  • GREAT LASER SOLID BUILD AND PERFORMANCE
Size: 30W
After unboxing the assembly went very easy with the frame having exceptional machining and fit. I use Lightburn with this laser and with my Commarker B3 30 watt fiber laser as it provides a very good user interface with capabilities to adjust for any burning requirement. As this laser does not have a "built-in" laser pointer, it was really not an issue as most all other lasers that have the built in laser pointer, do not have the ability to dial down the crosshair brightness that overpowers the burning location starting point. So, I built an adjustable laser crosshair that is powered by a 5 volt USB power block, withe the + 5 volts wired through a 500 ohm -1 watt pot that perfectly provides an adjustable crosshair brightness from just visible to full brightness which is way too bright. Since the power consumption of the laser crosshair module is only ~ 20 mA, the 1 watt pot is more than adequate to regulate the voltage. (Higher power LED's need to have their brightness regulated by using a PWM-Pulse Width Modulated method, but, for only 20Ma, it is not required in this case). The pictured "Laser Crosshair Brightness" control box was really my first burn project which is now used for any/every burn project to permit me to perfectly set the burn start point very easily. Even added a power switch to make it more "deluxe". When wiring the crosshair, it is somewhat mandatory to connect the chassis wiring to the crosshair module using a small inline connector when you may need to remove to change heads or other reason. The pictures tell all. I also use the AtomStackmaker rotary that works great and to keep from playing the "connect/disconnect game" when using the rotary, I also fabricated a switch box that keep me from having to jocky the "Y" axis stepper motor connector. Now I can just throw a switch and my rotary is good to go. An ADVANCED modification I added was the addition of the LONGER Laser Engraver Ray5 5W / 10W Laser Module Lifting Bracket Kit - ASIN B0CTJMC642 ... AN IMPORTANT NOTE -- The lifting kit "side rails" need to be remounted so the fixed weight of the head presses down ON the lower stop pins and not with the set screws only providing tension. The rudimentary picture illustrates that the side rails need to rest on the screwed in set screw at the bottom. This keeps the side rails from slipping down from the weight of the head - IT WILL.... This is an advanced mod that also requires the "Y" axis limit switch to be moved "away" from the front rail of the unit by about 20 mm or so to provide the clearance necessary as the adjustable Z bracket DOES REQUIRE more room to keep the laser head from contacting the laser front rail. See pix. OVERALL a great laser that performs very well.... ... show more

  • Great xtool replacement
Size: 30W Pro Set
I recently had my Xtool d1 non pro with the extensions go out on me. Any one that owned an original xtool like me knows the frustration of them abandoning their non pro line. No parts. There are not to many lasers with the bed size or work area I need. I need at least 15x32 inches. This laser fit the bill. On paper. It arrived via UPS which is slow around here. Took awhile to get here came in 3 deliveries as well. One for the camera, one for the extension kit. Then the laser. So far I couldnt be happier. Cuts way better than my laser tree 30 watt. Its frame workn is at least as beefy as the xtool if not better. It has plenty of clearance between the most bottom part of the laser and whatever ur material is. I use a lot of magnets to hold the wood down while cutting. And there is alot of clearance. NO LASER POINTER.... for knowing where ur works frames. But im gonna add one. So far....VERY IMPRESSED. COST HALF AS MUCH AS MY XTOOL AND JUST AS NICE IF NOT NICER. THANK YOU LONGER. Pic is what I make with my laser. ... show more

  • Have patience at setup
Size: 30W
Now that I finally got the machine up and running, it's incredible. Putting it together and aligning the camera was a complete pain. Then a wire got unhooked underneath and I didn't know it, so drove me crazy trying to figure that out. But definitely just like all of these, assenbly and software is a pain and there is NO instructions on what to do AFTER it's put together. Quality is great. ... show more

  • HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! DO NOT BUY A LONGER
Size: 40W Deluxet Bundle
Horrible customer service! Laser would work for a bit then stop, work for a bit then stop. I tried calling Longer customer service 4 different times and had to leave a message with no return calls. I run a decor business so I had to buy a different laser and now I’m trying to return it and they won’t allow that. DO NOT BUY!!! ... show more

  • Should've got one sooner
Size: 40W Basic
I build custom RC airplanes and wide variety of other crafts such as steampunk boxes, signs, and more. I have few other open frame laser engraver / cutters, and this is my new favorite. It's well made, powerful, and fast. Assembly is easy if you follow the instructions - video tutorials which are included on a thumb drive. If this is your first laser, be patient and follow the directions, it will be a good learning experience. I've tested this with a variety of materials utilizing Lightburn and LaserGRBL and the Longer B1 40w surpassed all my other machines. I did have an issue early on where my machine would randomly stop causing a split-second panic. I reached out to Longer who are very helpful, knowledgeable, and quick to respond. They helped me troubleshoot the problem and narrowed it down to a firmware update which was simple to install. Since then my Longer B1 has been getting quite a workout and I love it. I will be adding the extension in the near future. ... show more

  • Lots of little problems that bring the rating of this way down.
Size: 40W Basic
The good: It is powerful, fast, large assembly instructions good. The bad: the only view of laser is on the end, is clear, and you cannot see the laser at all from home and not well from any where when framing or trying to locate where the laser hits at a certain point within image. This makes running irregular pieces of wood and lining up images to certain aspects of the wood virtually impossible. The set screws for focusing are finicky and very difficult. They do not sell an enclosure large enough when using extension. Since you cannot see laser at home you cannot set your grid panel corner to exact home. Therefore if you want to use the corner of your grid panel to align your piece the grid must be moved up and out and then you cannot start from home. ... show more

  • Good product
Size: 30W
Very happy with this laser. Works well on soft and hard wood. Using Lightburn software and it works great. Only complaint is the assembly instructions that came with it are not the best. You're better off finding a video showing how to build it.
