  • It feels great, in some ways even better than the Apple Pencil
Color: Orange Style: Retail
About a year ago, I bought this Logitech Crayon after (temporarily) losing my Apple Pencil. I needed a stylus right away, and after some research, decided on this one. Eventually I did find my Apple Pencil just a few days later. So I've had a full year to compare and contrast both styluses (styli?) First the obvious: the Crayon is less expensive. Let's not confuse it with cheaper. In some ways it does feel more like a "toy" than the Pencil, namely, with the orange touches I'm not a fan of. But the aluminum body is definitely nicer to the touch and better build quality than the surprisingly cheap-feeling Pencil, with its own design foibles (cap and lightning connection?) To me, the Crayon is also nicer to hold. I like that it is both wide but flat, and to me feels nicer to write on a tablet than the Pencil. The width makes it feel substantial, but the flatness lends control. A regular pencil is thin and is usually meant to be used to write precisely within college-ruled paper; that's just not how it works on a tablet, or at least I certainly don't write that small. I feel I have a bit better control with the Crayon than the Pencil. Of course the big drawback with the Crayon, compared to the Pencil, is that it does not have pressure sensitivity. For artists or anyone who draws a lot, that's huge. For me, I mostly just write notes, and in some ways enjoy the uniformity of the thickness of my writing. Like a mono font, but with my ugly handwriting. Can be charming. But that's only a silver lining, however genuine it is... it really is a big deal to not have pressure sensitivity in such an expensive alternative. Overall, this is a great little stylus. The design I think is extremely functional and enjoyable to use, but esthetically feels undecided; it wants to be treated like an adult with the aluminum body, but also like a kid with the loud orange rubber and plastic bits. I'd rather it just grew up. Or at least let me choose something other than orange. With a few different design choices, and pressure sensitivity added in the mix, it'd be a no-brainer to choose this over the Pencil. As it is now, even with its quirks, I still find myself reaching over to this thing more than my Pencil, demoting the OG Pencil to the backup role. ... show more

  • A Versatile and Affordable Stylus
Color: Grey Style: Retail
As someone who recently bought the Logitech Crayon Digital Pencil, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by its performance and value for money. Pairing with my iPad was seamless—just turn it on, and it connects instantly. No need for Bluetooth setup! The flat, ergonomic shape feels great in hand and doesn’t roll off my desk. Writing and sketching feel natural, and the tilt sensitivity works well for shading. It’s perfect for note-taking and casual drawing. It lasts all day for my usage, and the fast charging is super handy when I’m in a pinch. No Pressure Sensitivity. For basic tasks, this isn’t a big deal, but serious artists might miss this feature. While cheaper than the Apple Pencil, it’s still a bit pricey compared to other third-party styluses. ... show more

  • Girlfriend loves it. A great alternative to the Apple pencil
Color: Grey Style: Retail
Works great for anyone who needs a stylus without all of the cutting edge features. Bit of a nuisance to have to charge it with its own cord and the battery life is a tad short but that might be because I got it renewed.

  • Great utility and value
Color: Orange Style: Retail
The Apple Pencil is the best stylus accessory for the iPad but if you are like me and only spent 300 bucks on your Ipad, the idea of spending a third of that price on an accessory seems excessive. Thankfully, Logitech's alternative is a great solution for those of us who want Apple Pencil features without the cost. The Logitech Pencil is a well-constructed, aluminum-built accessory that is designed in a rectangular shape that as a lefty, I find easier to grip than the Apple Pencil. Additionally, this shape doesn't roll or shift nearly as easily as does Apple's Pencil. I also like the charging implementation better than that of the 1st gen Apple Pencil as you don't have to worry about damaging the pencil by placing it awkwardly inside the iPad. This one just requires plugging into the standard lighting connector that shipped with your iPad. The major drawback of the Crayon is its incompatibility. The Crayon only works with 6th Gen iPads, 3rd Gen iPad Air and the 5th Gen iPad Mini. This incompatibility error stems into cases as well. Most iPad cases that have dedicated slots/silos for the Apple Pencil will not accommodate the Crayon. In fact, I have not found any cases that have built-in slots that are made specifically for the Crayon but have heard Logitech offers one on their site. I can't confirm the veracity of that claim as I have opted to use a separate pencil carrier for my Crayon. I did see that replacement tips are currently $15 on Logitech's website and they last about as long as those for the Apple Pencil. As for the functionality of the Crayon, it's as responsive as the Apple Pencil. In fact, you get all of the features of the Apple Pencil, except pressure sensitivity. If you are an artist, designer or the like you'll have to step up to the Apple Pencil or acclimate yourself with continually switching the thickness settings inside each app you intend to use. While you will see the 'tilt' feature advertised by Logitech as a means of adjusting from a fine line to a thicker one, in my usage I could not consistently trigger this functionality as it would work sometimes and fail others. I eventually gave up on it. If you're a student or a professional or anyone else who has to take digital notes, highlight portions and/or add handwritten markups to them this is an excellent, cost-effective choice. You get 75% of the Apple Pencil's functionality at roughly 60% of the price. You also get a product that is easier to charge and cheaper to maintain. If you can live with the incompatibility issues you'll face with this offering and do not need pressure sensitivity for your workflow I recommend the Logitech Crayon over any other alternative to the Apple Pencil. However, if you are invested in the Apple Ecosystem or want to be certain you will have Day 1 access to all forthcoming features of Ipad OS, spending the extra $40 on the Apple Pencil is the way to go. ... show more
