It's thick, foodsafe polypropylene (#5) plastic with a Silicone removable gasket for easy cleaning, it's dishwasher safe. It's a great value, if you treat these containers well and wash them right after use with food It's perfect. Just read the directions and don't reheat food with it in the microwave with the lid closed/locked. These lock really well, stack really well and are honestly the best of the best. I even use them for household organization because it keeps dust/moisture dust out of my old video game cartidges(I have been using the same container for now 11 years without a single issue the silicone gasket is still almost as great as the day I bought it), these containers keep my clay moist and easy to work with without drying out for months. That are just amazingly durable, sturdy and everything you need in a locking Tupperware container it just plain seals better than any comparable brand. Every after 11 years the locks on my container have stayed put never cracked even with frequent dropping because I'm a clutter. These may be a little bit more expensive than other brands initially but I have saved hundreds by using this brand because they just last so much longer than any other brand. I’ve been buying Lock and Lock for many years. I probably own 30-40 different pieces in many different sizes and colors. This brand makes the absolute best storage containers you can buy! It is completely waterproof and never leaks plus it’s very easy to open and close. I usually buy my Lock and Lock in sets from QVC because they offer a great selection of sizes and lots of nice colors. However when I just need a certain size I order from Amazon. They usually only offer clear. The one thing I will say is that the pieces I order from Amazon are harder to open. They still work great but require a little more work to close and open. I’m not sure why? So if you’re looking for excellent quality in storage containers you can’t go wrong with Lock and Lock. It’s the best on the market by far!!! If you’re looking for a good selection of sets in a great selection of colors check out QVC. If you just need specific sizes then Amazon is a good place to buy. I guarantee if you try this brand you’ll never buy anything else!!! I highly recommend it!!! ... show more

LocknLock containers are wonderful to keep cookies fresh, not dry. It is easy to wash by hand, but I use papertowel to dry it. Just neat things that you can fill it in.

    • Very sturdy, but a hassle to open

This pasta storage container is replacing a hard plastic one with a lid that had one big latch to open and close. That container was great to open and close, but the hard plastic cracked when it was knocked over on its shelf. I liked the matching set of storage containers, but 2latches have broken, one lid separated, and the spaghetti container had the crack. This is significantly harder to open and close, but if it doesn’t break, it’s the right choice. I’m someone who appreciates how a kitchen product looks, but function has to come first. Besides, storage is behind a closed cabinet door. If someone is horrified at mix-and-match storage containers, they don’t need to return! ... show more

I make great home made bread and had not found a good bread box. My bread pan is an 8.5 inch by 4 inch, and the loaf is very traditional loaf shape (nothing like the bread maker would make) so I needed something that would fit my wonderful, home made bread. For home bakes bread, I use this container inverted (upside down) - the top/lid becomes the bottom; Due to the fact that the latches / fasteners are located on the sides this works brilliantly for my unsliced bread loaf. If I choose to pre slice the bread I flip the container upright (if anyone is interested). This container seals well enough to keep the pre cut bred fresh (and that is a FIRST!) I have not found any other container tall enough or well sealed enough to keep my bread well I purchased two of these (because I sometimes make two loaves of bread at a time) and I discovered that this second container also keeps my romaine lettuce very nicely in the refrigerator. It is just the right size for the entire package of romaine lettuce I normally buy. I used to only wash and process my romaine lettuce just prior to meals and now I can process it the night before as it stays fresh longer. This container cleans up great, here is a silicone seal that is removable for washing - all in all it is a GREAT PRODUCT - edit: someone asked the measurement of the 18.8 cup container I use for my homemade bread loaf. They are 9.8 x 7.1 x 5.9 inches - this fits my tallest bread quite well. ... show more
