It's not super thick but if you put it over another rug or a foam alphabet mat like I did it's toddler proof in regards to falls. Unique and fun, my daughter hasn't gotten off it since I put it down. I got this because I needed something at the back door, soft for the older dog to lay on. It was on sale so I was willing to overlook the color. The color is...interesting, but it is SUPER soft, and folded over SUPER cushy and the dog LOVES it. Even better, it is super easy to toss in the washer. I have line dried it and in the dryer on low temp. It comes out perfect.

I definitely love this rug and the price was a killer deal for the size and the type of carpet. My kids love it and won’t get off if it now. They are actually willing to sit or lay on the floor now all because of this beautiful rug.
