  • I use on silver to antique my handmade jewelry
Several ways you can apply this to silver. A couple drops in a small amount of water, apple a little heat to warm the liquid. It only takes about 15 seconds to darken. Use something like a xxxx steel wool to shine the raised areas and keep the patina on recessed areas as shown.

  • Darkened Sterling
I used this on a bright sterling chain that I meant to order blackened. 15mins later and the whole chain is blackened.

  • Really works!
I’m still getting the hang of using this product but results I’ve had have been successful and I’ll only get better at using it.

  • Beats waiting for mother nature to patina
Make sure that whatever you are trying to age it really clean. If it's not absolutely clean, that area will not take the finish. I had a 125 year old drawer pull that I scrubbed with baking soda multiple times and still had a hard time getting the finish as dark as I needed.

  • Worked great!
The tip of the blade started tarnishing & a cleaning cloth wasn’t helping so I took it to a jeweler. I told her to just polish the tip & leave all the antiquing alone. I watched her stick the whole thing in a CHEMICAL CLEANER. When I expressed my frustrations, she offered to redo the antiquing for $60. Absolutely not. I figured this was a good time for me to practice as I’m going to jewelry school in two months anyway so I decided to do it myself. I followed the directions & instead of bathing the pendant in the mixture, I used a tiny paint brush to have more control. After neutralizing it, I used steel wool #0000 to polish. I’m SO happy with how it turned out! I don’t enjoy the smell of sulfur but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be & it’s a chemical product so I didn’t expect it to smell great anyway. ... show more

  • Takes just a little!
Puts the perfect patina on my copper wire jewelry.

  • A few drops go a long way
I have a more is more personality so when the instructions said 4 to 8 drops to 2 cups of hot water, naturally I used 8 drops and rinsed the dropper off in the solution as well - and when it said the hotter the water, the faster the reaction, I used boiling water - so, instead of 'submerging the item and re-dipping it until the desired patina is reached' it turned completely inky black in a matter of seconds, which was an absolute bear to polish off. try 2 drops and increase it. I would suggest following the other instructions as well - making sure the items are scrupulously clean so the oxidation develops evenly [I didn't do it and it shows], and preparing the neutralizing solution they recommend too [I didn't do it and it shows]. can't do the math, but there are a lot of drops in a 1 ounce bottle - plenty for a small scale household use like mine. While the natural/old tarnish/patina on my sterling is superior, some pieces I added recently must have been dipped because they were stripped of any discoloration - making the elaborate design of my flatware all but invisible. this put something like it back - it has a slightly blue tint and has a slightly metallic finish - maybe due to my overdoing it but it's way better than it was. I tried the mashed up boiled eggs, mustard, a couple of other things google recommended, none of which worked - well, except this. ... show more

  • Great product
Works very well with copper patina. Just have to experiment with the amount and timing for the color and depth of patina. Have used to induce a deep patina on debosed letter. One my designs involved coating the thin copper sheet after debosing then use a Dremel soft disc to remove the coating over the letters. ... show more
