  • Turns a regular ride into an effortless e-bike experience
I recently tried the pikaboost 2, and I'm honestly impressed at how easy it was to set up. Installation took just a few minutes no wires, no tools, just clipped it onto the seatpost and rear wheel and it was ready to go. I really like that I can swap it between bikes quickly, so I don't feel locked into using it on just one. On the road, the boost feels smooth and natural. The range is solid too I've been using the larger battery, and I can get a couple of long rides in before it needs a recharge. The tire grip feels reliable, even on wet pavement, and the built-in safety system that cuts off the motor if the bike tilts too much gives me peace of mind when cornering. The SOS alert function is one of those features you hope you never need but feels good to have. The app adds a lot of value it walks you through calibration automatically, and from there it's easy to switch between modes depending on how much assistance I want. I've also tested out the group ride feature, and it's a fun way to stay connected with friends on longer trips. The troubleshooting option through the app is a thoughtful touch too. Charging is convenient since you can either plug it in directly or remove the battery. It also doubles as a power bank, which came in handy on a ride when my phone battery dipped low. The external charge indicator makes it easy to know when it's topped up. All in all, this has been a clever and practical way to turn a standard bike into an e-bike without the huge price tag or permanent commitment. Perfect if you want some extra help on rides but still love the feel of regular cycling. ... show more

  • Going faster
This bicycle conversion kit transformed my old commuter bike into an efficient e-bike with minimal fuss. Assembly was straightforward, taking just under an hour with clear instructions and all necessary tools included. The power delivery is impressive, providing a smooth boost up to 20 mph that makes hills feel effortless. However, the noise level is a bit higher than expected, with a noticeable hum from the motor during operation. Functionality shines through in its reliable pedal-assist modes and throttle options, adapting well to various terrains. Battery life holds up admirably, offering around 30 miles on a single charge depending on usage. For the price, it offers excellent value for the money, rivaling more expensive dedicated e-bikes. Overall, this kit has revitalized my daily rides without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • What You Must Know If You Plan To Buy This
I am a retired Electrical Engineer, so this review is detailed, but very accurate as it contains things riders may not think about that are important for using this every day. The Livall Pikaboost 2 that hit the market in June 2025, is supposed to be a serious upgrade over the Pikaboost 1, that was a complete failure. The 1st Pikaboost had such a terrible rating of only 1 Star (only because there are no Zero Star choices when rating) that I thought Livall would solve all the problems after many years to do so. They really did not; just some! The unit still has problems, and I used it every day for 3 weeks until I gave up and returned it. I was going to give it more time, but it just stopped turning ON one day and would not turn on no matter what I did. First you must download the Livall app for your phone so you can make adjustments and calibrate the unit to fit your bike. The app has many other features that I will get in to. The unit comes with everything you need for installation, with the exception of decent instructions. You really have to dig deep into the internet to get proper information, especially with the Mud Guard that comes with it. It is plastic and breaks very easily and is extremely difficult to install. It should be installed at the factory as it would not inhibit packing and shipping in any way. Chances are they do NOT send it this way because they got tired of breaking it as well. There are 4 settings in the app for operation. 1. Standby 2. Assist Mode 3. Cruise Mode and 4. Exercise Mode. Standby is exactly that! It is ready to operate when you choose a Mode. ‘Assist Mode’ helps riders that want to get good exercise, but some help with hills and flat areas. There are 2 power choices for both Assist and Cruise. They are ‘Standard’ and ‘Powerful’. The difference between the 2 settings is almost unnoticeable. Standard gives you about 20% help and Powerful about 25%. ‘Cruise Mode’ is supposed to give the rider the ability to cruise after peddling and getting the bike moving at the speed you want. It does this BUT ONLY ON FLAT SURFACES. Going uphill in either ‘Assist or Cruise Modes’ without peddling will result in the bike coming to a complete stop. I know the videos from Livall show differently, but this is really the way it is. ‘Cruise Mode’ will also require some peddling at times to keep it going well. ‘Exercise Mode’ actually puts pressure on the unit and makes the rider work harder such as a spinning class stationary bike that adjusts from easy to hard. One good thing about this mode is that it actually charges the battery from your peddling. Nowhere in the instructions does it state when you are finished riding that you need to turn ‘OFF’ the unit by pressing the power button. In the app on my phone there is a setting for ‘Auto Off’, but that never turned it off no matter how many hours I waited. One feature that was important to me was having a red light on the rear of the unit flashing while riding to alert drivers. The app gives you many choices for the operation of the red light, from solid to flashing and everything in between. I could not get it to work for more than 5-30 seconds no matter which one I chose. Another issue is that it slows down during operation for no apparent reason, then kicks on and off intermittently. Especially when navigating from a flat or downhill grade to an uphill grade. The main purpose of buying this was to help me with uphill grades. Another issue is that the unit turns OFF a lot during operation. The only way I could get it to turn on again was to carry my phone with me, pull out the battery out of the Pikaboost, re-install it, then turn it back on and use the app, and it worked fine until the next day when most of the time it would happen all over again. There were some days this did not happen, but most days this was the case. Another issue is the unit adds more noise to your ride, especially if you have mountain bike type tread. The flatter the tread, the less noise, but it still makes noise. It also causes vibrations through the bike all the way to the front wheel at certain speeds. I have a $1000 Specialized Brand bike, and the vibration and noise got very loud between 13-16 mph. Every bike brand is different, but they all have this problem at certain speeds. You MUST buy a 65-watt charging block for the battery as it only comes with the cable. Livall videos state that the installation takes about 5 minutes, but it really takes closer to an hour due to the lack of information and often times pairing the unit with the Bluetooth on your phone. If pairing is an issue (which happened to me), there is a red button at the bottom of the screen “UNBIND” and by pressing that helped to get it paired. Also, keep your phone with you when riding or a loud beeping alarm on your phone comes ON, warning you that you are no longer paired, and stays ON until you get through riding. It will run your battery down and irritate anyone near the phone. Also, when opening the battery compartment, be careful as it can easily fall out. The battery also has a clear thick strip attached to it. That is a handle used to pull the battery out. It is not to be removed as often times a strip like that is removed so a battery will work. Very confusing without proper instructions. I hope this helps everyone considering this E-Bike Conversion Kit. It is hard for me to recommend it to anyone with all the problems it has. Livall wanted to send me another unit, and I declined. The problems are just too many to deal with. ... show more
