This is the second Little Giant #501003 sub pump we have used year-round in our bird bath. The first one lasted six years and only slowed when full of catkins, etc. It was easy to disassemble and clean. We eventually learned to put screens in the water-flow holes of the bird bath to minimize crud being sucked into the pump. When the first one finally quit for good, we wanted the same one again. Fortunately we found it at Amazon. We expect it to last another six years! ... show more

This model pump has been around at least 50 years. I bought this one to replace one that was from 1960 that I thought had quit working. After I bought the new pump I discovered that the old pump was indeed still working, although the replacement had a slightly better flow rate. Now I have two identical working pumps that were manufactured 50 years apart so I don't expect to need another for at least 100 years. They do still make them like they used to. ... show more
