I owned the original Litter Robot. This newer generation, Litter Robot 4, improved everything. Opening is larger so my kittens thru adults can use it. Most cats need little prompting to use Litter Robot. I think they like it because it is always clean. No worries about it starting up with your cat in it! Very safe, 2 generations of my cats are so intrigued when the cycle starts to clear the waste. The waste box collects and holds a week of waste for 2 cats. You use less litter. No smell at all once th3 cycle clears the waste. And the notifications when waste cycle is complete, box full, etc is really helpful! This Litter Robot is worth the cost. Very reliable. And the step is fine for all cats to enter and exit. I bought the steps so will have it when my cats are old and frail. I do recommend buying the $30 skirt or fence attachment since cats like to kick up the litter. ... show more

Gracie, an older calico, was very wary. She would not go near it for more than a week, and then only stepping on first & second stair for treats. We read customers’ advice stories of what to do and what not to do. “Do not force cat into the litter robot.” “Use litter attract for the first few days.” Then after 14 days we did “tough love” and gave her only the litter robot. We were so excited to see she used it overnight for the first time. It is sturdy, easy to clean! Love the app! Why did we spent the $$ on the Litter Robot when she is aging? Because we are aging too and needed help. We also have several friends who will use the box when she hits the rainbow bridge, knowing her she will go kicking and meowing. LOVE IT. ... show more

I rarely write reviews but this one deserves it. I’m currently in contact with customer support before I return it and will try to update this as needed. The device came completely broken of serving its main purpose. It disconnects from the WiFi about every 10 minutes, sometimes in as short as 1 minute. Apparently this is an extremely common problem that is not being fixed and people have gone to the extremes of setting this device up on a timed outlet to reset it every so often and try to get it to reconnect. This is an extremely expensive product to be sent with hours of issues. I hope this problem has a fix and I wish I would have known before buying because I would not have wasted the money or the time this has taken (not to mention the hassle of returning this giant non working machine) ... show more

I bought two of these for our four cats. I got tired of scooping and litter all over the place. If you can afford it, it’s definitely worth it. Hardly any noise, zero smell, and great app tracking. Highly recommend!

Pros: No daily litterbox cleaning It appears to use less litter overall. Little to no smell compared to our prior litter box. Easy to clean, empty, and change litter. The phone app allows you to monitor your pride(group of cats) and the status of the litterbox. Weight of each cat, usage of each cat, receptacle fullness, and litter remaining. Cons: Even with the Whisker branded mat and ramp the girls track litter everywhere (much worse than with a regular litter box). Setup requires you to scan codes and watch poorly produced videos on the internet. Support is worth the price you paid for it (support is free). It's very expensive compared to everything else we looked at. We have a mixed feeling of buyer's remorse (due to the nearly $1000 price tag after bags and accessories) and gratitude that it works as well as it does. With Amazon's return policy, we were very tempted to send it back and try a less expensive option. They have automatic litter boxes in the $300ish range. Day one with the robot 4, yes I’m out of my mind for paying almost 1000.00 for this. My back problems are terrible so I’m hoping this helps me, automatically the litter smell disappeared after the machine was hooked up and started working.
