This is 100% (mercerized) 4/medium worsted cotton. It’s intended to have a different texture and is much more durable than conventional cotton yarn without the loss of a nice feel. The feel and look of a higher quality is obvious once you touch a finished piece. Yes, the yarn feels different than standard yarn. It’s supposed to. It’s processed differently for a reason. This particular yarn is perfect for any project that will be used or handled frequently. It is stronger, doesn’t produce heavy lint, doesn’t get fuzzy or pill up, doesn’t split easily, and is more resistant to mildew. It holds its shape better than regular cotton yarn, and withstands many many washes and tumble dries on a medium heat setting. (Don’t use bleach or fabric softener.) I disagree with the reviews that call it “thread” or dk weight. Not true. Yes, there is a dk version of this brand, but it clearly says dk on the front part of the label. The thickness is comparable of an identical piece stitched with standard cotton yarn. The yarn swatches up just as noted on the label: Crochet Gauge (4in x 4in) 14 single crochets x 19 rows using a G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook Knit Gauge (4in x 4in) 20 stitches x 28 rows using #6 (4 mm) knitting needles Photo 1: My current 24/7 yarn stash is from in-store and Amazon purchases over a several month time span. The overall quality and color of yarn is consistent across the board, regardless of where it was purchased from. This stash is ever changing because of the volume of crocheting I do in my spare time. Photo 2: I use a LOT of this yarn to make simple dishcloths/washcloths for charity fundraisers in our local area. They are a hot commodity because of the durability and how they hold their vibrant color for a long time. Definitely better than any store bought dishcloth/washcloth. Honestly, I can’t make them fast enough. If you’re unsure about Lion Brand’s 24/7 cotton yarn or if you’re unfamiliar with mercerized cotton, try a skein. Don’t judge the yarn until you’ve finished the project. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. This is my honest opinion from my personal experience with this product. Wife Review Takeover 😉 I'm surprising my husbands cousin with cute house warming gifts. Hand towels, coasters, dishcloths. What I like about this brand is it's versatility. ▫️I can make a multi-piece product and not worry about it being "off in color". With that being said, I purchase yarn in the amount I need for a product/project to avoid issues of that nature. ▫️Being 100% cotton it's Texture is of good quality. It's soft but strong and I can tell it will be perfect for dish cloths. ▫️It is machine washable per the label but I'll probably look up more indepth instructions for care. ▫️I've already started to work it up and it does get softer, it's performance is great as I haven't noticed any knotting so far. Also I usually use 1 or a 1/2 size smaller hook in general than recommended (personal preference). I used a 3.5 mm hook, but it does call for a 4mm. ▫️Overall I am very happy with my purchase and will continue to use it as long as they keep producing the same quality product. ▫️Certain colors are inexpensive. But other colors are priced ridiculously high. If you run into this issue with certain colors like I did - My solution to that was to: 🔸️Take down the brand name 🔸️ Get the name of the color skien 🔸️Put it into the amazon search engine and see if there are any cheaper deals. OR go to a different storefront and look else where. Thankfully I've been able to find the colors I need at $5 or under on this sellers page and on another sellers page. To be clear, I am not suggesting getting the SAME color skien from two different sellers. The yarn could be from two different lots and you might end up with slight color variations. This is a pretty good more budget friendly cotton (if you can find it on sale). The colors are very saturated, but I have never had transfer on to my hands. The texture is not particularly soft and can irritate your hands, but it is also quite durable and is not going to break. This yarn has very nice stitch definition. The skein looks very small, but it is packed tight. Overall it works really well for many project as long as you are not looking for the softest yarn. Currently, I am combining it with other yarns to make coasters, the 24/7 gives the project nice structure, while the other yarns work well for the fluffier leafy bits.

I absolutely love this Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton Mercerized yarn in Spruce! I originally bought my first skeins directly from the Lion Brand website and then ordered the rest I needed here on Amazon to finish my project. The color is beautiful in person a rich, clean spruce green that works perfectly for my crochet Daisy granny square blanket I’m making . One thing I really appreciate is that the yarn is easy to work with. It crochets smoothly, doesn’t split easily, and feels sturdy without being stiff. Which is really nice as a beginner. It’s also really good value for money considering the quality and yardage you get in each pack. The yarn is soft for a cotton and holds up really well for things like bags, dishcloths, and wearable items. A heads-up about dye lots: mine from the Lion Brand website and Amazon were different, but luckily I genuinely can’t tell the difference in color. Still, I’d recommend buying a little more than you think you need at once, just to make sure you get matching dye lots if that matters for your project. Overall, this yarn is reliable, beautiful, and beginner-friendly while still being great for experienced crocheters. I’ll definitely be buying it again.

In short, the yarn itself is easily five stars IF you want a good quality light worsted, 3, DK, etc yarn on the thinner side. But don't get it if its specifically for a project calling for worsted medium weight weight. The three stars is because the yarn isn't close to the weight it claims to be and I wasn't able to use it for my intended project. Upon the yarn arriving it was evident that the skein was indeed smaller that usual despite having a typical 170m length. This wouldn't have been a problem, but the strands were NOTICEABLY thinner than the worsted weight yarn I had been using. Nevertheless, I decided to proceed with my pattern that called for worsted weight yarn and a 3.75 mm crochet hook. Using a 3.5 mm hook I began my pattern, but stopped after finishing the base because, as you can see, the gaps were too big for my amigurumi and the filling would be showing. I show some comparisons with other worsted weight yarn I had been using. I'm not a wraps per inch expert so take that photo however you want. The color of the yarn is nice and what I wanted/expected. It is cotton which is of course a little harder on the hands, but it is easier on the hands and smoother than Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn. I agree that it has a nice sheen, especially for cotton. This skein feels pretty hefty for being so small, and this is indeed reflected in how sturdy it is. I would consider this yarn to be soft and comfortable against even my sensitive skin, but it will produce stiffer projects than other soft yarns due to its sturdiness. This yarn DOES NOT split. Perhaps this is because this yarn is made of four strands twisted around each other firmly with each of the four strands being made of two strands twisted together (for an 8 ply?). So Lion Brand 24/7 cotton is a good yarn, but the labeled weight needs to be taken with several grains of salt.
