This is one of my favorite yarns to knit quick beanies! I don’t have issues with it splitting like I do with other yarns, and the texture is soft. Each sheik I use comes out to about 1 1/2 to 2 beanies. However, my one complaint is the price. Certain colors are much, much, much more expensive than others, which is really starting to make me question how badly I want this yarn. I live in an area where there’s not many craft stores available, so almost all of my yarn comes from Walmart. My Walmart carries this type of yarn in stock, however, they only have it in white/neutral colors. At Walmart, each sheik is about $5-6. Seeing that some of these colors are priced as high as 3x that price just really seems ridiculous. So either buy the cheaper colors or check out your local craft stores/Walmart first!

This skein measures 87 yards. Lion Brand is leaving off this in their product description. Now, I need to order more...was this their intention? Don’t get me wrong, I love this yarn, but this problem with the amount in the skein is deception.

I love the softness and the design in this yarn. I would’ve given it 5 stars easily, but there were literally KNOTS. It looked like the yarn had broken in places and someone just tied the two strings a together. There were also some imperfections in the yarn. It’s still usable but it’s sad that you have to strategically work the yarn so you can’t see the imperfections and significant KNOTS in the yarn. I’m really torn because this yarn is wonderful. I love everything about it except that someone decided to sell broken yarn and think that no one would notice.

I am halfway finished with a knitted watch cap that I'm making for a man who rides a Harley on weekends with a gang of fellow Hog riders. As his bike and leather jacket are both black, I decided to "spice" up his wardrobe with a little heat (color) from this hat and matching cowl. When I looked at more than two dozen varieties of yarn from several manufacturers, Lion's Wool-Ease Thick and Quick Spice struck me as the perfect match for these projects. The webpage photo doesn't begin to do this yarn justice; its tone is a deep rust red and is three-dimensional, that is, it is iridescent in the sunlight with strands of gold, red and even black. He'll be the Man on Fire amongst his fellow Hog riders, and they'll want their own hats and matching cowls as well. (Hey Amazon, if you could run a sale on this yarn, then a dozen bikers will be grateful for their wardrobe additions that I volunteer to make for them! :) ) Another reason to choose a wool-blend yarn like Lion's Wool-Ease Thick and Quick is its wonderful texture and reduced tendency to shed as compared with 100% acrylic. It is very soft and easy on the fingers as you knit. Having knitted a previous watch cap using Lion's 100% acrylic bulky yarn, I noticed that this blended yarn sheds less and appears less worn when handled. That 20% wool makes a big difference. Bottom line is this: if you want to make a fashion statement, buy this yarn.

The yarn itself is great, I love using it, the only problem I have with it would be pilling but I really don't mind it. I've used Wool-Ease Quick and Thick for many of my projects, but ordering certain colors are a bit hard to find leading me to get them here. I ordered two three-packs, so six skeins of yarn, and well I recieved only two skeins of yarn in my package... $37 dollars for two skeins of yarn... Now I'm just sadly sighing in the corner waiting to get more yarn to finish my blanket...

Amazon shipped my four skeins from multiple locations -- different dye lots!! :/ Might not matter for some things, and will hopefully blend OK on the project I'm working on. Guess I won't be using Amazon again for yarn, but I was really trying to not have to go into a store right now. Disappointed.

I initially ordered 11 skeins for a project, and then another 5 to finish it, so I've worked with quite a bit of this yarn. It works up quickly, but I've found the quality to be iffy. I expected a fairly consistent texture, but I've found it to be "slubby" in some places. Also I've encountered random and lengthy stretches of yarn with no variegation, retied ends in the middle of most skeins, and slubby/fuzzy spots that look like I made a mistake in my work. I'm making a very large blanket for a family member so these things will blend in discreetly, but I still notice them. This is my first time working with a super bulky (6) grade. I uploaded some photos. While you can see slubby spots and retied ends in some photos, you'll also notice the beautiful variegation. On a happy note, I purchased this through Amazon's add-on program, and the price was an incredible value.

Lions Brand consistently has the best color selections for the price. I got this to make a sweater and have had some great time with it but it does have it's problems. First off, the way they made the skein left several tied together with lengths which I had to deal with. One even came undone and I had to tie it off myself and weave it into my work (not a big deal it happens) but then there was another one and another one. Then the little brown and black strands of the yarn shed everywhere. Also, the way they tie off the skein makes for an annoying unravel. These were my only problems as the yarn is strong and feels soft and warm. The thickness and evenness fo the yarn was consistent throughout. Great price and is still the longest yardage of any skein I have found at this weight. So good but has drawbacks that make it hard to give 4 stars.
