The assembly of the first unit I received was deeply concerning: the LED indicator did not come on, and the heating element did not heat up. I opened the bottom panel (which was installed upside down) and saw that the impulse timer was not connected to the circuitry in any way, and the wires which should connect to the timer were connected to each other with yellow heat shrink tubing (see top unit in photo). I believe the first unit I received was a returned unit which was "repaired" by an unscrupulous technician. I noticed the first unit was shipped without the original packaging, and did not include the extra heating elements and fuses. The replacement unit arrived with original packaging and included the extra items... And it is fantastic! I purchased this model to replace the last slightly less expensive model I had purchased and returned. The aluminum housing is much more robust than the previous model, which had a thinner metal/iron housing. The thinner housing created issues with the screw holes stripping. The copper transformer is huge compared to the last model, which was much less powerful. I measured the wattage using a smart power strip, and this model pulls approximately 850 Watts, compared to the last model's meager 280 Watts. Note that this is higher than the wattage listed in the description and on the side of the unit, but for my purposes that is a good thing. The heavier duty grounded cord/plug on this unit gives added peace of mind. This unit is a great value. Other vendors are selling similar units for almost twice the price, or more. Expect to see some minor cosmetic defects, and you may want to do some tweaking. The arm isn't always aligned perfectly. There is a small pin on the housing which mates with a hole in the arm bracket to align the arm during factory assembly, but the fit of the pin on the hole is not tight enough to ensure perfect alignment. The metal tab which depresses the mechanical "ON" switch can travel too far when depressing the arm with pressure, causing it to push against the housing of the switch and displace it slightly. These issues are likely present in any of the similar impulse sealers available. More industrious/neurotic customers will be able to adjust things to their satisfaction. The bolts securing the arm can be adjusted from inside the unit with a socket wrench to align the arm, and the travel of the metal tab can be adjusted by bending it slightly to engage the switch at the desired pressure without pushing against the switch housing. I recommend this impulse sealer for use with grain spawn bags. It seals 3 mil gusseted (4 layers) polyethyene grain spawn bags perfectly at the 4 second setting. I haven't tried polypropylene bags, or thicker 6 mil bags.

So I had my old one for several years. It was similar but generic. Heat strip kept burning out & it finally died. Of course that was in the middle of a huge order that I needed to get out. I picked this sealer & happy that I did! It is easier to use and more heavy duty. I can tell that it seals better.

If you need to package products and you are tired of waiting for something like a vacuum sealer that makes you wait in between sealing steps, buy one of these. I use it to package beef jerky I make for myself, family and friends, none vacuumed with an O2 absorber. I use a little higher than 1 on the settings dial for a perfect seal on my vacuum seal bags. The seal strip is a lot wider than what you get out of a vacuum sealer like a food saver. I would guess the food saver does a 2mm seal and this one makes a 5mm wide seal. And because you can seal again and again without waiting, I started double sealing my ends to ensure a perfect seal. Highly recommend. My package came with 2 spare fuses, 2 spare heater and Teflon strip sets. When you push the handle down to seal, it auto times for 2 seconds so you don't have to worry about melting the bag after you find the setting that is right for your bag. I can't express enough how much of a time saver this is. I make 8 lb batches of beef jerky normally and packaging it was always a nightmare before because half the time I was waiting on the food saver to let me seal the next package. Now it's as simple as filling all tbe bags, then seal them all one after another without having to wait.

I love this sealer so much I have bought 8 of these for different relatives and they love them too. It’s easy to use, it heats perfectly. It keeps all my products fresher when sealed instead of clipped like I use to do. Half the time the kids would just rolled down the cereal bags, now they seal them up and our cereal stays like new. You can use it on all packaging except paper unless the paper has a foil lining. Seal your chip bags, rice, cereal, crackers, candy, bread, well….any packing that is plastic or foil. Great product!
