I have a traumatic brain injury so I spend a lot of time in my bedroom because it has blackout curtains. I'm also in my final quarter of nursing school so I need something with a lot of support as I sit up while working on assignments. I spent a few hours over break researching this type of pillow. I was slightly hesitant to purchase this because the reviews were mixed. I took a chance and I am so glad I did! When it arrived it was delivered rolled up and in a box. It was wrapped in 2 layers of plastic (I thought I took pics but cannot find those). Remove the plastic without using scissors. It is easy enough to unwrap without taking a chance of slicing it open. It starts to fluff out immediately! However, it is memory foam so you have to work a little bit to break the memory foam up (used our hands to actually break up the foam) so it can fluff out. The first two pics show after my kiddo and I broke apart the memory foam so it can fluff. I put it on a chair in my room so it could do its thing for 24-48 hours. It took about 24 hours. The third and forth photos are after it fluffed out and has been in use for a week or so. It is super fluffy! It is also very comfortable! I purchased a lumbar support thingy when I bought this and as you can see in the forth pic, it offers additional support. I really like the additional pillow attached to it. I am 5'3" and it fits me perfectly height wise. I think it would fit people who are taller (maybe up to 5'8" - 5'9") but might not be as well fit for someone over 6'0" (idk though). Anyway, I leave it on my bed because it is rather large and awkward to move/sit elsewhere but I am totally ok with that! It is wide enough my pillows fit between the arms (also super comfy) so it is there and ready when I'm ready to work on school. My dog enjoys laying his big head on the arm and my kiddo can curl up with me on it too. Definitely recommend this pillow. It might be a little too heavy for an elder, or someone with lower muscle mass, to move it but that is really the only downfall I could see with this pillow. If I could afford it right now I would probably purchase one for my kiddo too. ... show more

Being an avid bed-reader (>_o) I've been wanting a pillow like this for years, but always blew it off as unnecessary. When it came up as an Amazon deal of the day with the different options, I decided to treat myself to the pillow with all the bells and whistles and, now that I'm snuggled up against it writing this review before relaxing and reading to end my night, I'm SO glad I sprung for it! Life for me has been EXTREMELY stressful lately with a highly demanding job, seemingly impossible-to-please bosses, and kids struggling with all sorts of problems at home (while bringing them with them to school) , on top of signing on to be the full time caretaker of a dad with a severe case of Alzheimer, and a mom with undiagnosed dementia, I've got A LOT on my plate, and my constant stress levels and accompanying neck pain is clear evidence of that. But I swear, as soon as I nestled into this huge, solid, soft-yet-supportive pillow, I could just feel the tension melting away. With the attached (yet removable) neck roll, this pillow is all that I've always wanted, and with the quality that gives me deep satisfaction that my hard-earned money has been well spent. The navy pillow that I bought is a beautiful, rich and deep navy - a color I'm confident will hold up over time and hide most stains. The pillow itself has no funky chemical, or any, smell at all, and after tearing it from the plastic it comes compressed and sealed in, it's started expanding nicely. I'm hoping to find that mine continues to fill out as others have said, but for right now, it's SO nice to be laying in! The arms are nice and thick and supportive, and it's just SO darn comfortable to curl up against! It IS heavy and unwieldy to move, which is both guys are bad for me, but the cart carry handle that's built t in mashes is Honestly, I'm not so sure I'll get much reading done on it because I find myself fighting sleep as I write this while laying on it, but so far it's proving to be worth every penny, and the wait for mine to arrive! Get the one with the neck roll! For an extra 20% or so, it's TOTALLY worth it, and you don't want to find yourself having to find a substitute later which you'll likely spend far more for than just the measly extra ten bucks for it here. ... show more

Pretty blue reading support pillow. It is much bigger than I expected. It is firm and comfortable. I only wish it were a little more "cozy". Good buy for the money and I will use it a lot.

    • Exactly What I Was Looking For

Exactly what I was looking for. I needed something that allowed for better back support while sitting up in bed. This pillow is firm, yet soft and comfortable. The neck support is great. For me it is a little too big for my neck, but I was able to unsnap it and place it at the lower part of my back. Very comfortable. Upon taking the pillow out of the box, it was vacuum sealed and rolled up and much heavier than I expected. It smelled strongly of chemicals. Over the course of the evening, the neck pillow expanded as did the pillow. After 4 hours it had not fully expanded. In the morning, it had fully fluffed up. After almost 24 hours, the chemical scent still exists though not as strong. It is not a pleasant smell, but it doesn't bother me to the point I can't have it in the room. I am certain it will continue to dissipate. The fully fluffed pillow is softer yet still quite sturdy and supportive. I like it. UPDATE: It's been a month. Still love this pillow. Only thing I'll caution is that THIS AIN'T GRANNY'S PILLOW. She won't be able to pick it up or move it. This MOFO is hefty. I get that that is what makes it so sturdy, but dayum. Do not give this to someone who might get trapped beneath it. ... show more

Needs a lot of fluffing but overall great, comfortable pillow. It was a huge hit, as it was a gift. The color is as expected. Great to use for reading in bed, watching tv, relaxing, etc. The design allows you the use the top headrest or not.
