Gorgeous bed. It took me about 2.5 hours to assemble on my own; however, instructions are vague and this would have been accomplished a lot more quickly otherwise. The bed came in four separate boxes which were all securely packed. Once constructed, the bed feels solid and sturdy. I have a few tips listed below: TIPS Tools - screwdriver: I recommend having a screwdriver for the middle rail section. The Allen key becomes uncomfortable at a point. -Drill: A drill could also be helpful but you don’t want to be too hasty. - Mallet: there is a mallet pictured for inserting the dowels. I didn’t have one so I just pushed everything together firmly which seemed to work ok. Error 2. The middle rail had pre drilled pilot holes and so did the slats. One of these did not line up, so I had to use my drill to create a pilot hole in the right spot. This was somewhat frustrating to me since this is an expensive product, but I get that mistakes happen. Suggestion for nightstands 3. If I did it again, I would use wood glue on the dowel section (when assembling the nightstands) to add more security. Mattress 4. The mattress we have is an 9” Mobley brand (also from Amazon). There is a 2.5” feather bed on top of that. If you plan to go any higher, keep in mind the headboard may be covered. this would look much more pleasing to me with a shorter mattress, but that’s personal preference. CRITICISM/notes Product Note that this is mostly MDF and the wood is either a very thin veneer or a wood pattern. For this price, I would expect veneer throughout. Assembly Secondly, the instructions are so vague and tiny that I had a hard time following. The central slat is supposed to be screwed into the platform slats, so when adding the legs to the center slat wait to thread them with the platform slats. This required me standing between the slats which was very uncomfortable for my ankles. Final thoughts: if you’re going for a boutique hotel aesthetic and don’t mind putting in the elbow grease to achieve that, this is the bed for you. ... show more
