Apricot Apparently Went to Finishing School I ordered this coat in Apricot, hoping the color would lean toward the creamy off-white shown in the listing photos, and that is exactly what arrived. She's lovely. The longline silhouette, broad lapels and relaxed tailoring give her an understated chicness, while that cool cream color takes the whole affair up another notch. The fabric is soft inside and out and has enough substance and weight to drape beautifully without turning the coat into something I have to lug around on my shoulders. I sized up intentionally because where I live, winter eventually develops teeth, and I wanted room underneath for a chunky sweater. In a warmer climate, I can easily see this handling those occasional 40-degree days on its own, while those of us acquainted with actual winter can bring in the heavy knitwear. Jeans at Noon, Slinky Dress at Eight I don't toss around “dress it up or down” for every garment that happens to tolerate both denim and a necklace. Most clothing has an allegiance. This coat, however, genuinely plays both fields. A creamy sweater, jeans and boots underneath and she's off knocking around town without looking remotely overdressed. Give her a pencil or full skirt and she changes gears. Slip her over a fitted tea-length dress with a wicked pair of stilettos and she has enough presence to hold her own there too. She's a stroll down cobblestone streets in SoHo, lunch at that swanky little bistro you've been meaning to try, or an evening doing the Drink & Eat Crawl down Valencia Street in San Francisco. She gets the assignment and apparently doesn't mind changing clothes between acts. A Peek Beneath the Pretty Face The construction gives me more reason to like her. The seams on mine are neat, the buttons are secure, and the smooth satin-like polyester lining is nicely finished as well. The shell is 85.1% polyester, 10.7% rayon and 4.2% wool, with a second 100% polyester shell component and 100% polyester lining. That explains some of what I'm feeling here: the small wool content contributes a little warmth and substance, while the rayon helps keep the fabric from feeling rigid and gives this long silhouette a nicer fall. This isn't a traditional high-wool winter overcoat, and I wouldn't pretend otherwise, but it looks and feels considerably nicer than the composition might suggest. There is softness, structure and movement here, and all three are playing nicely together. “Hand Wash Only.” Really? Then I reached the care instructions and found “hand wash only.” Side-eye. I simply do not have that kind of relationship with a bathtub and an overcoat. Mine received a modified VIP Kitten Treatment instead: turned inside out, cold water on the gentle cycle with a splash of Woolite, balanced in the machine with a sheet on the opposite side, and I stopped the cycle once or twice to make sure the load remained evenly distributed. Afterward, I turned her right-side out and gave her a short no-heat tumble, just long enough to fluff the fabric and release most of the wrinkles, then laid her down to finish drying. She came through beautifully. That is what worked for my coat, but since it differs from the manufacturer's hand-wash instructions, everyone should choose the care method they're comfortable with. LILLUSORY Is Becoming a Problem in the Best Way At this point in my fall and winter clothing haul, LILLUSORY is quietly pulling ahead of the pack for both style and fabric, and this coat is another reason why. She's beautiful, chic, a wee bit sophisticated, and versatile in the way that word is actually supposed to mean. There is nothing fussy about her, yet she can walk into a nicer room and look perfectly at home. For the price, I think this creamy little number is a full-on winner. LILLUSORY, you knocked this one out of the park once again.

I ordered this women's double-breasted wool trench coat in black for the upcoming fall and winter season, and I'm really happy with it. I'm 5'4, 156 pounds and ordered a size medium. The sizing and was accurate and it fit great. The length hit top of calves on me. It has a nice relaxed fit with enough room for layering without looking too bulky. The material feels warm and comfortable, and the full-length design gives you plenty of coverage on colder days. It’s just the correct thickness for Louisiana winters. The seams are done well, the buttons are securely sewn on, and everything feels like good quality. I also appreciate that the fabric resists pilling and doesn't wrinkle easily. It has an open lapel front and convenient side pockets which I always appreciate in a coat. The inside is lined with a smooth satin like material that makes the coat easy to glide on over clothes. I also love how versatile it is. You can easily wear it casually with jeans and tennis shoes or dress it up with boots, scarf, and a nicer outfit underneath. The black color is exactly as shown and there wasn't any strange smell when I opened it. It's hand wash only so that's something to keep in mind when it comes to care. Overall, I'm very pleased with this coat. It looks great on, feels comfortable and warm, and is easy to style in different ways. It's a good value and I would definitely recommend it.

I've been ordering from the Lillusory brand for the last couple of years and it just keeps getting better! I'm generally a 'puffer coat' kind of gal for the warmth and practicality but for some occasions, a puffer coat just won't do; especially now that I've returned to working 'in office' for a few days a week and need something with a slightly more polished look. Out of the package, the coat did have quite a few wrinkles in it so it didn't look great but after some careful work and patience with my clothes steamer, I was able to work out most of the big ones. I did notice in that process that I was getting some fuzz and lint so that will be something to be careful about. Based on the size chart, I ordered my usual size of large and the fit is great. I was concerned that it might not fit over a sweater but I tried it on with one and I have plenty of room. The fabric has a good weight with a nice lining. The cut is a bit straight vs. a silhouette which is good for my body type. There are handy side pockets but note that they aren't especially deep so you'll want to use care in deciding what to put in the pockets. It's not cold enough yet to assess warmth with any amount of certainty but given the weight and thickness of the fabric, I think it will be perfect for late Fall/early Winter in the Northeast. Perhaps even later into the winter if not outside for an extended period of time. I love how I can dress this up over slacks or dresses for dinner or the theatre but also easily wear it with jeans and boots. It's a very versatile piece at a great value.

I really like this coat. It has a classy, polished look that makes even a simple outfit look more put together. The double-breasted front and clean tailoring give it a more expensive-looking appearance, while the relaxed fit keeps it comfortable and easy to layer over other clothing. If I could give this 0 stars I would. Aside from the fact that it is 100% cheap plastic both on the inside and outside shell, it is completely unproportionate. The sleeves are too short while their shoulder seam is really low making it look oversized and short at the same time. Overall for the same price you can get something much better at macys! Higher quality too!

I’m really loving this LILLUSORY wool coat! I reviewed the LILLUSORY Women’s Winter Double Breasted Wool Coat long outerwear trench relaxed fit with clean tailoring, full length, side pockets, smooth drape and city to weekend styling. I like the full length as it covers areas that the wind tends to funnel in and the side pockets to stow my phone and keys without pulling the coat out of shape. What I liked: the smooth drape on the body looks expensive, the clean tailoring lines and the functional side pockets (they aren't just decorative). What I did not like: the wool coat is a bit fussy with lint and wear, so I had a lint roller close by and the relaxed fit isn't the sleekest silhouette if you prefer a fitted coat. Value for money is good for a long wool type coat as you get full length, double breasted and capacity for layering. It seems to be well built with good durability based on the feel and structure so I would treat it gently with regular brushing and careful storing. Capacity for layering under the coat is important as the cut of the coat works under thicker knits. I wore this to a weekend dinner and also wore it on a windy walk to grab some coffee and it looked as good over jeans and boots as it looked over a dress.
