Paperwhite features plus color!

I've owned many Kindle versions and thought I'd reached peak Kindle with the Kindle voyage circa 2014. Vibrating haptic feedback, small, and light. Then my wife got me a wireless page turner button for Christmas and all of a sudden the haptic feedback became less important. Soo, I took advantage of the 20% trade in credit plus saved buying this "like new" colorsoft SE. It really was like brand new. It is quite a bit bigger, and heavier than my trusty Kindle Voyage, but I love the USB C fast charging, plus the option to wireless charge. And the color book cover you're currently reading shows when the unit is off. Also with the latest update, you can double tap anywhere on unit (back, side, top/bottom) and it will turn the page (forward only). I will say, the color is kind of a gimmick considering 99% of my usage is reading black text, but it is nice to shop the kindle store directly from the kindle and see the color book covers. My wife has the non color SE kindle and it has noticeably sharper text, but I knew that going into this purchase. I just figured for the same price as a new non color unit, I could get a color one so took the plunge. I bought a magnetic flip case so the kindle is protected front and back, and it also turns into a stand, so with my wireless page Turner button, I don't even have to hold the kindle while I read which is a feature you never knew you'd need till you try it. There are only really two, maybe three negatives. The first being the size, but this is only if I compare it to my old kindle. The larger screen is beneficial though since you have to turn the pages less often and is nice for viewing the Kindle store. Next is the infamous yellow band or stripe across the bottom that it seems all the colorsoft units have. Initially it was super noticeable and I contemplated sending it back since once yoy see it, it's all you can see. But, I adjusted the color warmth up to about a third, and the yellow all but disappeared. Thirdly you will take a resolution hit if you're used to using a paperwhite. The contrast of the text to the background is just not as crisp, but you quickly get used to it.

Great kindle!

I absolutely love the Kindle Colorsoft! The color display is such a fun upgrade, especially for book covers, illustrations, comics, and anything else where color makes a difference. The screen is crisp and easy on the eyes, and the 32GB of storage gives plenty of room for a huge library. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and the battery life has been great so far. I also love how convenient it is to have so many books in one small device. If you’re an avid reader and want a Kindle with a little more visual excitement, this is a fantastic choice!

Good Value for Kindle Colorsoft

Condition: Purchased “Like-New”, the item shipped in a plain brown cardboard Amazon box. It included an instruction manual. The Kindle itself appeared unused with no cosmetic defects and ready to set up. The Kindle does not have the yellow bar issue of the earlier Colorsoft release. Details: The Kindle Colorsoft (32 GB) is my first Kindle and very pleasurable to use. It is incredibly lightweight and small enough to even fit in a front trouser pocket. It is very comfortable in-hand and one is easily able to read from it. The colored e-ink was worth the investment in order to have colored book covers and images. While the colors are not particularly bright even with the vibrant setting turned on, this is still especially nice even with the faint book covers while in stand-by. Reviews are correct that the pages look like “newspaper” in the slightly colder tone, minuscule textured dots, and not being quite as sharp as the Paperwhite. However, this is unnoticeable while reading and I have personally experienced no eye strain. Furthermore, Audible audiobooks are accessible through the use of Bluetooth headphones. Unfortunately, one cannot open a book and listen at the same time like in the Kindle and Audible apps. However, cross-platform and device tracking of books is very handy. However, the biggest issue has been the lag, loading, and general lack of speed compared to a 120ghz screen or more powerful device. This most often occurs during loading screens, store searches, flipping pages, underlining on a second page, etc. Also, gestures do not always register correctly and it can feel rather clunky (the same on the Kindle App on iPhone). Conclusion: The Kindle Colorsoft is a quality product with an ease of comfort. Although expensive, it is worth the wonderful and convenient reading experience.

Flawed software compromises library cover display.

The physical unit is great, the color rendering is acceptable, though the highlight color options are substandard. The primary issue with the unit pertains to software deficiencies (which should be correctable). 1) There is no option to turn off "shared highlight" annotations. 2) Covers for books that are in the Amazon cloud for download, but no longer featured in the Amazon store, are no longer shown (as is the case with any ebook that is side-loaded from Calibre). Based on review of online squawks, and clear lack of responsiveness from the Kindle team, the speculation from most commentors was that this defect was intentional. It should be understood that EPUB files that are properly formatted will allow the cover defect to be resolved, but that occurs at the cost of file naming quirks if Calibre was used as the file source without additional action to rename the source file. If the Amazon Kindle software team (and corporate management) care about produtmct reputation, a software update will address the issue, so that cover images will be displayed based on the embedded images whenever the Amazon store cover is not available. This is a glaring software defect. Amazon should regard seamless inter-operability with Calibre as a necessity. Failure to do so is a disservice to their customers.

Bookish girl friendly

I am in love with my Kindle! and for it to have been like knew, I works as if fresh out the box itself. I wanted color because I am not a black and white type of person. It helps that I can read at night and the screen doesn't hurt my eyes. the battery life is also a plus I can go a week if not more with out charging which is awesome in itself. The speed is also good as well, I did find out that I needed to turn the double tap feature off because I'm always moving and it's a bit sensitive to that. Other than that though it was a good purchase for the price I paid.

I’m very happy with this product

I’m very happy with this Kindle so far. Everything arrived in like-new condition and works exactly as expected. I haven’t noticed any issues at all, and if anything comes up later, I’ll update my review. There’s no yellow tint at the bottom of the screen, which I was a little concerned about before purchasing. The slightly grainy texture feels intentional and reminds me of a real book page, which I actually enjoy. The color display is beautiful—especially when viewing book covers. The colors look soft and muted rather than overly bright, which is perfect for my reading experience. The self-dimming feature works great, and the tap-on-the-back to change pages is super convenient and responsive. Overall, this Kindle has been perfect for me, and I’m very satisfied with this purchase. P.s excuse the bubble in screen protector

Disappointing display quality on my Like-New unit

I am giving this Like-New Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition a one-star rating because the unit I received had noticeable yellow banding/discoloration and uneven screen tinting, which affected the reading experience for me right out of the box. I had seen reports from other customers about yellow banding or display-uniformity concerns with the Kindle Colorsoft, and my unit appeared to have a similar issue. Because this was sold as Like-New, I expected the display condition to be better. Value for money: Poor for me, because display quality is the most important part of a Kindle, and this unit did not meet my expectations. Size: The size is good and convenient for reading. Ergonomics: The ergonomics are solid; it is comfortable to hold. Battery life: Battery life seemed adequate during my limited use, but I did not keep it long enough to fully judge long-term performance. Portability: Portability is a strong point because the device is lightweight and easy to carry. Reliability: Reliability is my biggest concern because the screen issue on the unit I received made me question the quality of this specific Like-New device. Based on my experience with the unit I received, I would not recommend this Like-New Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition.
