Description

A Time Magazine Invention of the Year winner, the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter contains no chemicals, no batteries and no moving parts to wear out. It features a high flow rate and weighs only 2oz. The ultimate survival tool for hiking, camping, ultralight backpacking, hunting, travel, scouting, and emergency preparedness, its straw design is ideal for purifying water from streams, lakes, ponds and other contaminated sources. No disaster kit or bugout bag is complete without a LifeStraw, an essential component of any prepper gear lineup. Unlike many similar filters on the market today, LifeStraw has met EPA standards for water filtration in independent testing and removes a minimum 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria (>LOG 6 reduction) and 99.9% of waterborne protozoan parasites (>LOG 3 reduction), filtering to an amazing 0.2 microns and surpassing EPA standards for water filters. LifeStraw has been used around the world under extreme conditions for humanitarian relief, providing clean drinking water in developing communities. The LifeStraw Personal water filtration straw measures 9 x 1 x 1 inches and weighs 0.1 pounds; includes sealed bag for storage in backpack or survival kit. • Essential, Reliable Water Filtration for Outdoor Adventures
Color: Blue Style: 1 Pack
We have found the LifeStraw Personal Water Purifier to be a must-have piece of gear for hiking, camping, travel, and emergency preparedness. Its lightweight, compact design makes it easy to pack, and it’s simple to use—just uncap both ends, dip the straw into your water source, and sip. We appreciate how quickly it provides clean, fresh-tasting water without the need for batteries, chemicals, or complicated setup. Key Benefits: Effective Filtration: Removes 99.999999% of bacteria and 99.999% of parasites and microplastics. The filter’s 0.2-micron membrane exceeds EPA standards for water safety. Long-lasting: Capable of filtering up to 1,000 gallons (4,000 liters), which is enough for one person’s hydration for years of adventures. No Maintenance Hassle: Requires no batteries, power, or pumping—just sip, and you’re done. Blowing air through after use helps keep the filter clean. Lightweight and Durable: Weighs less than 2oz and is built to withstand rugged use, making it effortless to add to any pack. Peace of Mind: Perfect for emergency kits, travel in areas with questionable water quality, or backcountry explorations where clean water isn’t guaranteed. Helpful Tips for Use: Prime Before First Use: Let the bottom end sit in water for about 20 seconds, then take several strong sips to start the flow. Regular Cleaning: After each use, blow air back through the straw to clear out residual water and help prevent clogging. Storage: Keep caps on both ends when not in use, and store the LifeStraw in a cool, dry place. For long-term storage, rinse and follow care directions to maintain performance. Know Its Limits: While the LifeStraw is excellent at removing bacteria and protozoa, it does not remove viruses or chemicals. For heavily polluted or viral-risk areas, consider supplementing with tablets. Our Experience: We’ve used it on backcountry hikes and international trips. The water tasted clean every time, and we never worried about running out when sources were available. It’s incredibly reassuring to know there’s a quick, reliable way to get safe water right from streams, rivers, or puddles without carrying heavy bottles. One Design Note: Since it’s a straw, you need to drink straight from the water source or fill a separate container to use it—a minor tradeoff for the portability and simplicity. Overall Recommendation: We highly recommend the LifeStraw Personal Water Purifier for anyone who spends time outdoors or wants peace of mind in an emergency kit. It’s affordable, dependable, and does exactly what it promises: delivers safe, clean drinking water wherever you go ... show more

  • An amazing personal water filter
Color: Blue Style: 1 Pack
I read a lot of reviews and articles that suggested getting the lifestraw, and I'm glad I followed their advice. My only question at this point is should I get the steel version for our 2nd one, especially as it filters chemicals (i.e., pesticides, metals), has another separate filter, may be even more durable, and helps make the liquids taste better. One of the interesting things I found out about the lifestraw while researching is that it was originally developed to help people in developing nations with local water problems so that they could get clean water while a more permanent solution was found. Awesome - I can't think of a better use for it and would gladly support anyone engaged in such causes. Below are some other great reasons to get it: 1. It's one of the most compact water filters you can find that still does an amazing job 2. It's sturdy/durable 3. It does its job well with a backed up standard of filtering 99+% bacteria, protozoans - it boasts a filtration rate that rivals industrial filtration standards for our own tap water. 4. It does not impose any strange tastes to the water after filtering (although it also does not make crap tasting water more pleasurable to the palate - so be careful what water/liquid you use it on). 5. It filters 1000 liters before replacement is recommended - depending on the person, that's enough water for one person for about 500 days emergency supply. Or about 350 days of camping. It should be noted, though, that if it isn't kept clean and dry, it probably won't last that long. 6. To follow up this last point - if kept clean and dry, it purportedly lasts 5 years (given that you have filtered <1000 L) or indefinitely if you keep it in the bag it comes in without use. This is a very positive aspect of it for use with a first aid kit or an emergency water or food supply. 7. Even with the filter, the flow rate is more than adequate to quench your thirst without feeling like you're struggling to suck it through the straw. I should note, though, that when you first pull on the straw, it will take a couple seconds for the water to come up through unlike your run-of-the mill straw. Cons: Very few in this category but a couple to note nonetheless. 1. This is not meant for water storage - they do make a water bottle version, but no large containers come with or are associated with this. 2. This is not very convenient for drinking from a portable water reservoir or bladder (i.e., camelbak, osprey, etc). So, if you intend to use it camping or hiking, your best bet is to use it on streams and the like. If you have a hard time bending over to get to said water source, this probably isn't the filter for you. 3. Following up on this last point, if you need to filter large quantities (for your family camp site for cooking, etc) this is not what you need. I would recommend getting a gravity filter, iodine tablets, or something similar for that purpose. Overall, very happy with the lifestraw, especially for its price and versatility. It's very useful and brings peace of mind in case of an emergency. ... show more

  • Lightweight lifesaver, perfect for solo adventurers & emergency kits
Color: Blue Style: 1 Pack
The LifeStraw Personal Water Filter is perfect for my solo hiking adventurers, or emergency kits. I wish there was a way to know for sure that the water is being properly filtered but for what it does, it earns a 4/5. Recommended for anyone seeking reliable personal water safety.

  • Works as advertised in the wild
Color: Blue Style: 1 Pack
Takes a significant amount of effort and time to get water through but worth it when your dying. Water was straight from lake superior and straw did not affect taste. Did not get sick after using straw so have to assume it works as advertised!
