Heats well. Yes it did have an odor originally, but that has stopped. To be honest I bought this for our kitty. He likes the heat and watching the flames. Has 3 buttons for low or medium heat with or without flame.

I wanted to love it. Pro: The heater is awesome light-weight and has great output with two different settings and a thermostat. Con: You need to run the heating feature in a very well ventilated area the first time on high setting to get the heavy chemical smell to dissipate. Con: Unfortunately needed to contact customer service for legs… Requires 4 legs they sent two. Pro: The fireplace graphic is sweet and pretty realistic looking. Con: unfortunately after using it (with the heater off) three times the graphics mechanism begin to make a repetitive moaning grinding noise which obviously has to do with the rotating flame-effect bar. In order to inspect it or fix it yourself you’d have to take the entire unit apart due to the way it is designed and assembled. You could try to get another unit to replace through Amazon customer service on the phone, but they might just basically offer to refund your money. So overall you’ve got to ask yourself, do you feel lucky? ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I've had this for a month or so, and the fireplace stopped working. I didnt use it continuously so I dont know why. I have followed all the instructions carefully. There's really nothing you can do on your own to fix it. Troubleshooting consists of cleaning the glass. I am returning it. I could buy a heater anywhere, but I liked the fireplace feature. Very disappointing. Previous feedback: We weren't sure a small heater would heat a large room, but it works so well. Heats the room quickly and is quiet, and I love love love the realistic fireplace.
