I have a very old house I'm restoring and in the kitchen I have these weird light boxes/cans that are 12'x8'. I put LED bulbs in them but they are really rusty and ugly. The ceiling other than needing paint is a really cool texture. I'm doing a diner them in the kitchen and want to paint the ceiling and range hood a metallic copper. So I didn't want to put a new piece of drywall in after removing the deep boxes as I don't think I will be able to duplicate the plaster work and blend it in. I tried ordering some 12" round fixture but forgot to take into account that if I measure the hole I would leave behind diagonally I would need something at least 14" in diameter to cover it. I thought I would have to order something square or rectangle shape as I didn't think the made round fixtures large enough that weren't meant for warehouses. Then I ran across this one. I did have to bridge the giant hole left behind with a 1"x4" and mount a box too it but them installation was quite easy. Once I attached the mounting plate to the box I found there was a little tether strap to hang the fixture from while wiring it up. Then it just twists into place. There are three different light settings to choose from and even the brightest setting didn't seem too harsh. I liked the middle setting but the lowest was very similar to an incandescent type of light. As you can see it covered the giant hole quite well and looks really good. I also included a picture of it lit up next to one of the original cans for comparison but I don't think the picture shows it too well. Anyway I will be ordering the other two I need and I'm happy I didn't have to get a large 2'x2' cloud light or something. ... show more

    • Bright and easy installation
This LED ceiling light is quite bright! I haven’t put it up just yet but I did wire it up real quick to test it out. It lit up the whole living room (25’ x 18’) and that was with the light at ground level. I have three floor lamps that were on and it overpowered all of them. I actually bought this for a bathroom that is smaller so it should be more than enough. The light itself looks modern and pretty stylish, though I wouldn’t know “style” if it bit me on the butt, so take that for what it’s worth; probably nothin’ - HaHa! The light has three color temperatures: super warm (really yellow/orange), super cold ( icy blue), and in between the two. I prefer the middle setting. The way it mounts is super easy. It has a disk that nests inside the back of the light with a quarter turn to click it in place. The mounting plate (a.k.a the disk) can screw right into the ceiling or mount into a proper box. The house I live in was built before electric lights were a thing apparently (I’m actually serious) so the bathroom only has vanity lights as they were easier to “retro-fit” or something. This light will be installed directly onto the ceiling as it’s not very far from the vanity lights so I’m just going to splice off of that and run cabling via conduit up the wall, across the ceiling, and to the light. Weird, I know, but I’m only renting and as long as I don’t endanger ourselves, it’s function, price, and ease over all else since it’s all up to me to do. I’m not complaining though because we have free reign to do whatever we want because the house is so old, just about anything we want to do is an improvement.     • 3 Setting Modern Light!
I ordered this to replace my son's dining room light, because his girlfriend wanted to have a busy wall and needed something modern and more flush to the ceiling. This worked perfectly, and for them, the install was as easy as can be. The light is made of mostly plastic, so it is very lightweight. This came in handy when my son had to lift it above his head and twist the wires together. There are 3 light color settings, a warm yellow, a semi-yellow, and a brighter white. All of them worked great, although they tend to lean more towards the warm cozy colors in their home. To change the warmth of the light, you do have to twist and remove the light from the mounted plate, and flip the switch. It's a simple design and the light looks very modern. They are considering ordering for multiple spots in their home! ... show more

PROBLEM - I needed new bulbs for my fluorescent garage fixtures. In California they’re phasing out the use of fluorescent bulbs so they cost more than a new LED fixture. I also found that many replacement LED bulbs are not compatible with the Ballast on the old fixtures. I’ve provided a before and after picture and a suggested alternate wiring (Consult your own electrician) PROS- • Slim and modern design. I’ve installed this in my garage and it really gives the space an upscale look • Good light distribution • Economical to purchase and to run Cons – Be aware that • The wires are a tight fit. Because of the slim design there isn’t a lot of room for the wires which makes screwing the fixture in difficult. I'd rather have the unit 1/4 to 1/2 inch thicker to make it easier to install so i deleted one star • I have three fixtures on one light switch so I have two sets of black and white wires coming from the ceiling and that made it impossible to fit the wires in the light as described in the installation instructions • I contacted an electrician friend of mine and he gave me this hack. This will only work if you have a junction box in the ceiling • Before installing the cover slide the wires from the fixture through the hole in the cover and connect them to the wires from the ceiling. • Push all of the wires into the junction box • Install the cover onto the junction box • Install the light onto the cover. ... show more
