I got this light because it matches the style of all the other light fixtures I have been replacing throughout my house. I decided to use this one in my stairwell to my basement. I chose to do this mainly because I liked how it didn’t weigh much. Coupled with the fact it is mainly plastic light, it would make changing it easier in an already hard location to work. I will start by saying this light looks very similar to all my new lights in my house. However, unlike my other lights made from glass, this one is plastic. This is both a pro and con. This light feels very cheap. Almost weighs nothing. I chose the location high up in my stairwell because no one will be close enough to see that it is plastic. From far away, you can’t tell. It looks nice. The light installation was pretty easy. The hard part for me was just having a ladder on a stairwell. One minor feature that I really liked is the mounting plate (plastic) has a hook on it and the light comes with a cable chain that allows you to hang the light easily while making the electrical connections. That is a great feature when up on a ladder. I was able to remove my old light and install this one in about 20 minutes. Before mounting the light, you can set the color tone you want. I went with the daylight (6500K) setting. Once it was done and turned on, wow… I was impressed with how bright the light is compared to what I had previously. These light lights up the stairwell 100 times better than the CFL lights I had before. This location was the last place in my house to switch to LED. What a difference. Even though this is a cheap feeling light, it works well. The only downfall to this type of LED light is there are no changeable LEDs. When/if it stops working, you must replace the whole fixture. Something to think about. In theory LEDs should last a very long time. Time will tell in this case. I do recommend this LED light fixture for certain areas or locations in your house. I don’t know if I would put this light in a main area of the house where it is more easily seen up close, but I am not totally against it. It works well. I can not see the cobwebs in the stairwell that I couldn’t see before! ... show more

To be honest, it felt cheap and flimsy. So, as long as it's high up on the ceiling, no one can tell. It does look good. Finally, we can get rid of the old light fixture and go modern! Item had some sharp edges and almost cut my hand. When trying to lock the light to the installed base by rotating the light using the cover, the cheap plastic cover got pushed in and almost broke. Tried again using the metal frame to rotate and ran into some sharp edges. Installation was quite easy. I was able to reuse all the fastening parts from the previous light fixture. ... show more
