  • Great unit! (first impressions + two month update)
Size: 50-pint Style: Pump
My humidifier (LG Puricare with wifi and pump) arrived today. I had it unboxed, setup, and running in 45 minutes, including pump hoses. It’s in my basement laundry & bathroom, and it’s a workhorse, so the fan doesn’t bother me. Laundry room is always cool and damp, and I think this will be perfect. Sound level is normal, no jet engine takeoffs as a couple other reviewers have mentioned. I grew up with having dehumidifiers in the basement and this unit sounds normal or even quieter than those older models from years past. Too loud for a bedroom perhaps, but I didn’t buy it for there. Wifi connection was easy, I have a number of LG appliances and am familiar with the process. Waiting for the pump to pump the first time, so this is a review in progress. So far 5 stars. UPDATE AFTER TWO DAYS: Still working well. The pump is working. It appears to run when the bucket fills up. Twice the ThinQ app on my phone notified me that the bucket was full and that the unit will restart when the bucket is emptied. I was not around when this happened, but when I got home and checked the unit, the bucket was nearly empty and the compressor was running. It appears the pump emptied the bucked and the unit restarted. My basement laundry and spare room are now pleasant and dry, it's not clammy and cool anymore. This unit is working wonderfully. The fan does run all the time, presumably to circulate the air in the room and so the unit can get a good reading on the humidity. After a couple more days to let everything get really dried out, I'm going to try using the phone app to put the unit on a schedule to run at night when my electric rates are lower. Will be interested to see if the fan stops completely when the schedule turns it off. UPDATE AFTER TWO MONTHS: The unit is still running perfectly. The pump does a fine job of pumping the water out of the tank and up into the laundry drain when the tank fills up. Now that the room is all dried out and the weather is changing, I put the dehumidifier on a schedule to run for a few hours every night when electricity is cheaper. Now the fan only runs at night, and the unit is totally silent when it is scheduled to be off. If I have guest using the extra shower in the laundry room I manually turn the unit on. Sometimes it seems that manually turning the unit on and off disables the nightly schedule; I just use the app to turn the schedule off and turn it back on and it's back running on the schedule I set. Very happy with it. ... show more

  • After 3 years still works like a champ
Size: 50-pint Style: Pump
I put this dehumidifier under my house to keep humidity low. After almost 3 years it still works great. The unit pumps collected water without fail. The accompanying app is a little rough around the edges but is functional. The app has a nice diagnostic feature that I like. I keep a separate hygrometer under the house opposite the dehumidifier just to verify it’s doing its job. So far this unit has performed better than expected. ... show more

  • Keeps my home at a perfect 35 to 40% indoor humidity during the most humid days of summer
Size: 50-pint Style: Pump
Whisper quiet, and love the drain-pump feature for "set it and forget it" convenience. Never empty a bucket again! Condensate tank is auto-magically pumped from the holding tank into a nearby sink or drain. Living in a high-rise condo, the A/C system does little to remove indoor humidity. Running this workhorse keeps the 2900 sq. foot home at an acceptable relative indoor humidity. No more being cold and damp! It allows me to keep the thermostat at a higher temperature without discomfort. ... show more

  • Really sucks out moisture, quiet, internal pump to automatically discharge water.
Size: 50-pint Style: Pump
So far, so good. Seems like it would turn a humid basement or room into the humidity characteristic of a desert! It extracts moisture like there's now tomorrow, and for summer conditions, that easily requires that the bucket be emptied every two days. It's also quite quiet. I have a large Lionel model train layout in my basement, and extended exposure to humid conditions conditions is not good for the exposed metal parts, the external movements, and the motors..... I think so, at least. But with a value in excess of $30k, I don't want to take chances. That's why I bought the biggest brute available! I would have given it 5 stars extra for one feature that would have been so easy to incorporate because it's already a measured variety that is displayed on the control panel. The phone app lets you see the humidity in the room, it lets you adjust it to the humidity level that you like, it lets you turn the pump on and off, and those are great functions. One other nit pick is that it took several attempts to connect it to our Wifi network,?and it's literally within five feet of the router. Just be more stubborn 😠 than it is, and it will succumb to your efforts and connect. It hasn't lost communication since it witnessed my hard hardheadedness when initially connecting it to the network. 😂 However, there is one variable that displays on the machine that doesn't display on the phone app. It doesn't tell you when the bucket is full. Now, many of you will justifiably ask, "Since you specifically purchased a unit with an internal, motor-driven pump that is supposedly able to pump the water out to a height over eight feet, why haven't you connected the hose that came with it to the output of the machine? Why are you worrying about whether the bucket is full and needs to be emptied when it will do it automatically?" Wellll, it's like many of the simple, half hour tasks that that have been collecting on my plate. I've just been too darn lazy (and I have been putting in a lot of hours at work). Now, I've only had it for two months, but we have had good luck with every LG appliance that we have purchased: stove, refrigerator, and several window air conditioners of vary BTU ratings. We purchased a 25,000 BTU air conditioner for the first floor, and mounted it a side window so that the house wouldn't look cluttered with window A/Cs on both floors. Each room has an LG unit except for a GE that works ok, but is built really cheap. In closing, I heartily endorse and recommend the LG 50-pint dehumidifier. Those tiny annoyances that I mentioned are just typical startup problems that you often encounter when connecting a device or computer to a network. I did purchase a three year extended warranty that, unlike many other extended warranties, starts AFTER the initial one-year manufacture's warranty, not concurrent with it. Dealing with manufacturers can be a total PIA, but when the extended warranty begins, it's through Home Depot (where I purchased mine online), and they are MUCH easier to deal with. ... show more

  • Nice features, poor quality
Size: 50-pint Style: Pump
Sleek and the WiFi works well but this product has too many defects. The first one I bought was very loud so I returned it. The second one was much quieter but the pump was DOA. I give up.

  • Love the condensate pump feature
Size: 50-pint Style: Pump
I wanted a dehumidifier that didn't need to be emptied by hand. I have an unfinished basement that doesn't have a vapor barrier in place so it normally gets pretty humid in the summer with potential to foster some mold on textiles (clothing, hobby materials for cross stitch, etc). Bonus (once I got it to work) is the wireless connection that can be monitored from my phone - great for when I travel (hopefully once COVID gets licked). Has been maintaining 40-50% humidity pumping out about 10 times a day of so (piped to a condensate pump on my heat pump fan coil). This a sturdy (and heavy) piece that seems to be well made. It's not to loud (running at low fan speed). So far I'm very happy with it. ... show more
