I was expecting to spend half the day trying to figure it all out. I plugged it in and hooked up the optical cable and that's all it took! Very pleased. The only thing I'm having a problem with is that I can not use my Xfinity remote to turn off the tv. All the other functions work, but I have to actually use the original tv remote to turn it off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ... show more

Got the sound bar set up and it works pretty well, BUT....the remote in the package does not have the same buttons as the one in the user manual that I downloaded, so I was kind of on my own. We have to hit some of the remote buttons a couple times to get the function a work. The point of installing it was just to clean up the sound from the corner mounted TV. It sounded like it was in a barrel. Anyway, utilized the included optical cable and it did just that, so I guess it's a plus. ... show more

    • I hear EVERYTHING with my new LG.
I am hearing impaired. I don't use a hearing aid (never found a comfortable one) so I needed a TV sound system that I could hear clearly to be able to enjoy my sports, TV shows and movies. This LG SK1 is the best I've ever had, and I've had some very expensive sound systems. It's incredibly easy to set up and use. As one who almost always writes a review for any product I buy, I should have paid attention to those who warned against purchasing this sound bar in their reviews. Although both of my TVs are LGs, which work beautifully, the reviews for this sound bar were somewhat mixed. I guess anything that makes it for one year at a price tag of $82 can’t be all bad, but this sound bar comes close. First off, the sound quality was borderline better than the built-in speakers that came with the TV. Since we have 10 foot ceilings, I purchased the sound bar with the hope that rather than having the sound of the built-in speakers bounce upward off the mantle beneath the TV, it would be directed forward from the sound bar. What I hadn’t counted on was the relatively poor sound quality of the sound bar itself. Imagine my surprise, however, when, I turned on my TV this morning and the sound bar didn’t come on as well. Thinking the batteries were probably dead, I replaced them. Fuggedaboutit!! The red light stays on, and no amount of cajoling with the remote has any effect upon the sound bar. It’s D-E-A-D. Almost one year to the day from the time I bought it. So, lesson learned. If the reviews are mixed for a product, avoid it like the plague. This sound bar is a loser. ... show more

    • Great soundboard for older tvs
Has optical input for older TVs without needing to buy cheap equipment or interfaces. Easy to install and synced up with the tv easily.

    • Was able to save a few bucks with an older damaged tv
My LG was at least 10 yrs old and hanging on my porch the volume died. I used this instead of buying a new tv and it worked! The cable provided was huge bc it was not bluetooth capable. Big win! Grateful
