    • Measuring properly matters
My husband and I love this ac by LG. Pay very close attention to the dimensions. They are very precise. Installation was a bit more than we expected. But, that isn’t anyone’s fault but our own. We ended up having to remove the storm window to get it to fit. Again, not any fault by LG. My husband didn’t read the directions first. Once he read them he took the cover off the front and back. I helped him slide it in from the inside. He leveled it, out the coverings back on, and voila! It fit like a glove. We upgraded the btu from 12000 to 14000. The difference is amazing. This unit cools our entire first floor. Which is our enclosed front porch, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. I’d estimate the square footage to be around 900 square foot. Give or take a few. We especially love the quietness of this unit. The directional vents are large and puts out plenty of cold air. We have the WiFi feature, but don’t anticipate using it. But, who knows? In summary, we love this unit. Yes, a bit dicey getting it in the window. But, that was our fault. It looks great. Recommend this unit. Plus, Amazon delivered it 2 days sooner than expected. Which was so appreciated as our old ac stopped working. Thank you Amazon! ... show more

    • Massive unit that doesn't cool as well as the smaller, 12,000 btu Midea, it replaced.
Regretted this purchase almost instantly after seeing the condition of the shipping box. Unit overall was ok but a handful of fins were crushed as a result of poor handling. The "case" as its called was a mess to install, even on a new window. Had I known, I would have bought a shelf and called it done. Holes were drilled offset when they shouldn't have been, no way to get support feet in proper position on sill to carry weight evenly, so had to use scrap wood shims. Fired it up and expected room to be cold after a bit and it never reached below 71 degrees with unit set to 68. The former unit, a Midea U Shape 12,000 btu, had the room frigid. Only got rid of it due to a mold recall. How this unit is so highly rated and has a higher output rating is beyond me. ... show more

    • More powerful and effective than description implies
This unit is a LOT more powerful than I thought. Way better performance than I think the product states. I measured the distance and with fan speed on the second setting (1-3 settings) I could feel the air 18 feet away as if I had a fan in front of me. The description undersells it. I, personally, found it difficult to set up but I'm not particularly mechanically inclined. It's heavy, for sure, but it has brackets to help support. I haven't seen the electric bill so I can't say what the value is specifically; however, it does have an eco setting that is well rated. The remote actually has all the functions of the unit panel itself which isn't as common as one would think. For noise, I haven't found it to be any louder than a regular fan. It generally fades into the white noise and helps drown out the outside noises of traffic and construction that increase with the summer months. ... show more

    • Cools very well, Quiet, Front Cover is a bit Wonky.
This AC rocks! Lots of cooling power and pretty quiet. It cools my whole living room, hallway and kitchen, about a 600 square foot area, that gets lots of direct sunlight. Can't ask for much more at this price point. My only gripe is the front cover doesn't set properly in place, no matter what I try. The problem seems to be there isn't enough clearance for the power cord, I have it routed properly and through the notch in the cover. The unit I as far in the sleeve as it can go so I'm not sure what the issue is, maybe just the design? Anyway, even though the cover is still slightly pulled away at the lower right corner, it isn't really noticeable in my situation, so I can live with it. But thats why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. ... show more

I was looking for a 14k BTU AC for years that could keep the hole downstairs of our house cool. This 14k BTU one we got does exactly that. It's the first one we owned in this house that does a great job. Installing was easy however it is heavy. It took two of us to place it into the window. I strongly recommend getting the brace to help support the AC. I also think that for the amount of air it blows out that it's pretty quite. ... show more
