  • Quiet and easy to install
Size: 10,000 BTU (14000 ASHRAE) Color: White
The 10k BTU model is fantastic, very quiet operation (when I sit 3 feet away it measures 45 decibels on sleep mode). We got it to cool a small room (~150 sq ft) and it does the job nicely without frequent on/off (presumably because of the inverter on this model).

  • Cools a large room
Size: 10,000 BTU (14000 ASHRAE) Color: Black
We have a very long kitchen. The window unit that came with the house ran 24/7 and never kept up. This thing has allot of power and only runs intermittently. Seems to be very efficient and quiet.

  • Will probably leak on your floor or blow a circuit in your house
Size: 10,000 BTU (14000 ASHRAE) Color: White
We rarely give bad reviews, but the circumstances associated with this purchase have left us no alternative. We installed a new hardwood floor in our daughter’s bedroom and wanted to use a portable AC unit to cool the space. We bought a new LG 10000-BTU Inverter Portable Air Conditioner unit that is designed to shut itself off if there is a potential for leakage. The unit was installed in the bedroom and ran trouble free for several months. It was not moved from that location during this period of time. We then noticed water leakage on the new hardwood floor under the portable AC unit and immediately performed routine maintenance on the unit (cleaned filters and emptied the water collection tank). The leakage was substantial enough to cause permanent damage to the floor. To prevent further damage to the new floor we bought a drip tray to put under the unit and a leak detection system to let us know if it does leak. We then called LG Customer Service to determine why the portable AC unit did not shut itself off before leaking on the new wood flooring. After over 45 minutes of discussion, they agreed to schedule a service call by D.G. Appliance Service. A technician from D.G. Appliance Service arrived and discovered that the unit had a cracked water collection tank. He stated that he had performed repairs of cracked water collection tanks in the past but did not have the resources (helpers) to repair it now. He left without fixing the unit and reported that the unit had "Physical Damage" to his supervisor. He advised us to contact LG Customer Service to resolve the issue. We contacted LG Customer Service on the same day and were told that the warrantee did not apply since there was "Physical Damage" to the unit. We disputed the finding because the unit clearly had this damage upon arrival, and we reported it within the one-year warranty period. It took several months for the defect to manifest itself for several reasons: First, the LG technical support documentation is very explicit in their warnings that the unit is never to be laid on its side (or back) and should be kept in an upright position at all times - Otherwise, you risk damaging the cooling system. In order to have detected this damage upon shipment we would have had to lay the unit on its side to be able to visually inspect the water collection tank located at the bottom. This is exactly what the technician did to determine that the water collection tank was cracked. We had to help him support the unit in a horizontal position while he inspected the bottom of the unit with a flashlight. Second, for the first few months that the unit was operating the weather was fairly mild, and the unit was able to evaporate the condensation as it ran without having a buildup in the water collection tank. The heatwaves that started in mid-summer precipitated the condensation buildup in the unit's water collection system and led to the leakage through the cracked water collection tank. Since the unit was never moved from its initial installation location there was never an opportunity to damage the water collection tank except for in shipping or manufacturing. We were forced into buying an identical LG AC unit to replace the first leaky one since the permanent venting that we installed in our daughter’s bedroom made switching to a different brand difficult. Upon plugging the replacement unit into our wall socket the circuit breaker in our main panel tripped. No amount of re-setting the circuit breaker would cure the situation and we were forced to pay an electrician to trouble shoot and replace the circuit breaker. We immediately returned the replacement unit and received a third identical LG AC unit that appears to be working. We have contacted at least a dozen LG authorized and non-authorized repair centers to fix the first leaky unit but none of them will repair a portable AC unit. So we have this POS sitting in our garage waiting to get recycled… ... show more

  • Cools Very Well
Size: 6,000 BTU (9700 ASHRAE) Color: White
First, you should know I am a female senior citizen, and I installed this myself. It wasn’t easy for me, but it might be easy for you! This LG portable AC does the job! I was worried when it stopped cooling on the third day. But instead of getting upset and writing a bad review, I went to LG’s website and looked up support info. I found out that it just needs to defrost sometimes. No worries! PROS: It has a variety of of settings. Cools a small room very well without running all the time. Has a remote control. Includes window panels in various sizes. It’s about as loud as the oscillating fan I was using before, but shuts off periodically. CONS: Attaching to window is not as easy as it looks. Sometimes the remote doesn’t control the unit, and I have to try again. Remote has no backlight for night time use. It arrived in a beat up box and the hose attachment for the back of the unit was broken (I was able to easily fix it with duct tape and hook it up). In general, I recommend this AC. The temperature control is accurate and it cools my room very nicely. ... show more

  • Works fine after a month of going back and forth with LG Customer Service
Size: 5,000 BTU (7700 ASHRAE) Color: White
I purchased this unit early July 0f 2024. It arrived on 7/16/2024. It was missing a part so I called Customer Service. I explained what part was missing (as they don't list part numbers in their diagrams) and waited a week to receive the wrong part. I called back and this time sent a photo of the part. The person I spoke with said they understood what I needed. Waited another 2 weeks. Still no part. I called back a third time and spoke to another person who then determined that the part was never ordered!!! Ugh. Finally, a week after this I get the correct part. The AC unit works well. I'm just disappointed with quality control and customer service. ... show more

  • Excellent A/C unit!!!!
Size: 7,000 BTU (10,500 ASHRAE) Color: White
I am thrilled with this monster of a unit. I love it. I have always used window units but have upgraded to a new window last fall where the old school style a/c can't go in without some sort of brace/shelf to hold it. On top of it, it was breaking the window sill with weight over time so I've been eyeballing a fix. Along came this unit at a fabulous price. I use separate a/c in my master upstairs because it's always hotter than downstairs and I learned, keep downstairs at 74-76, use unit upstairs to keep it chilled nicely. A excellent way to save $ on electric and house heat pump. This unit delivers!!!!! It's only spring in Georgia, but I needed it our first day of mid 70's. Man, this bad boy chills. It does have some sound to it. I have mine in my master closet that has a window so it's about 15 feet from the bed. I am used to a window unit noise so I don't mind it at all. I know it's bringing that sweet coolness to my domain lol. One thing about this unit that I don't understand at all. The piece that slides into the vented piece that goes in the window to block the opening must be cut to fit. The vent takes up space and blocks the ability to slide the extender into a normal 32"? window. I had to get a girlfriends man to cut it. It worked but there was zero info on anything about this. I was going to call the company but decided to put info on review. All in all, I definitely recommend this unit. My windows are free from getting damaged and I must say, the exterior look at the house with this style of unit is much nicer than the old style bulge. ... show more
