  • Almost 2 year review
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
I bought this in June of 2023 and it's held up so far. It has worked great against a couple seasons of those 100+ degrees Fahrenheit summer temperatures. My only complaint is that my unit sometimes rattles on the low fan setting. I don't why but it seems to stop when I press hard against the front right panel. It does require some maintenance to keep it cool. I clean my filters about every 2 months and it's still blowing ice cold. I like having this on at night when I sleep near me on low when it doesn't rattle. It makes kind of a white noise for me not hearing birds chirping, but just the fan blowing. LG ThinQ app works great for my LG ecosystem with my fridge and also TV with this. ... show more

  • Will probably leak on your floor or blow a circuit in your house
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
We rarely give bad reviews, but the circumstances associated with this purchase have left us no alternative. We installed a new hardwood floor in our daughter’s bedroom and wanted to use a portable AC unit to cool the space. We bought a new LG 10000-BTU Inverter Portable Air Conditioner unit that is designed to shut itself off if there is a potential for leakage. The unit was installed in the bedroom and ran trouble free for several months. It was not moved from that location during this period of time. We then noticed water leakage on the new hardwood floor under the portable AC unit and immediately performed routine maintenance on the unit (cleaned filters and emptied the water collection tank). The leakage was substantial enough to cause permanent damage to the floor. To prevent further damage to the new floor we bought a drip tray to put under the unit and a leak detection system to let us know if it does leak. We then called LG Customer Service to determine why the portable AC unit did not shut itself off before leaking on the new wood flooring. After over 45 minutes of discussion, they agreed to schedule a service call by D.G. Appliance Service. A technician from D.G. Appliance Service arrived and discovered that the unit had a cracked water collection tank. He stated that he had performed repairs of cracked water collection tanks in the past but did not have the resources (helpers) to repair it now. He left without fixing the unit and reported that the unit had "Physical Damage" to his supervisor. He advised us to contact LG Customer Service to resolve the issue. We contacted LG Customer Service on the same day and were told that the warrantee did not apply since there was "Physical Damage" to the unit. We disputed the finding because the unit clearly had this damage upon arrival, and we reported it within the one-year warranty period. It took several months for the defect to manifest itself for several reasons: First, the LG technical support documentation is very explicit in their warnings that the unit is never to be laid on its side (or back) and should be kept in an upright position at all times - Otherwise, you risk damaging the cooling system. In order to have detected this damage upon shipment we would have had to lay the unit on its side to be able to visually inspect the water collection tank located at the bottom. This is exactly what the technician did to determine that the water collection tank was cracked. We had to help him support the unit in a horizontal position while he inspected the bottom of the unit with a flashlight. Second, for the first few months that the unit was operating the weather was fairly mild, and the unit was able to evaporate the condensation as it ran without having a buildup in the water collection tank. The heatwaves that started in mid-summer precipitated the condensation buildup in the unit's water collection system and led to the leakage through the cracked water collection tank. Since the unit was never moved from its initial installation location there was never an opportunity to damage the water collection tank except for in shipping or manufacturing. We were forced into buying an identical LG AC unit to replace the first leaky one since the permanent venting that we installed in our daughter’s bedroom made switching to a different brand difficult. Upon plugging the replacement unit into our wall socket the circuit breaker in our main panel tripped. No amount of re-setting the circuit breaker would cure the situation and we were forced to pay an electrician to trouble shoot and replace the circuit breaker. We immediately returned the replacement unit and received a third identical LG AC unit that appears to be working. We have contacted at least a dozen LG authorized and non-authorized repair centers to fix the first leaky unit but none of them will repair a portable AC unit. So we have this POS sitting in our garage waiting to get recycled… ... show more

  • Great AC; but lots of erroneous answers on here from LG
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
It's quiet, and I love that the hose is attached. I will update this review when I've used the unit longer, but now that I have it in home, I'm here to say to others like me who want to use a taller universal sliding glass door adapter or for any other reason know the ACTUAL hose diameter... the actual diameter of the round part of the hose (not the diffuser) is not 5" as stated by "Ivan" from LG-- it's 5.9" so it fits universal sliding door kit's for a 5.9" hose, like this one. I just screwed it in, so take my word for it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BXWJ9PBC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Secondly, the oval nozzle on the end of the 5.9" hose CAN be removed (which you may want to do to use the nozzle from a universal window/door kit) - you just unscrew it! It's so frustrating when you can't get correct answers even from the manufacturer, so I thought I'd come here just to help anyone else out. UPDATE: have used this LG AC for about a week now, and it totally cools my living room (about 420 sf). It's also definitely quieter than the two other portable Acs I've owned. I had a plexi glass insert made for my very tall slider, which I recommend if the included kit is too small for your window. Love the wifi feature - have used it when not at home. Very happy. And please note that a reviewer who posted a video here erroneously states this unit has "heat mode" - it most definitely does not have any heat mode. He was merely turning the temperature up on the AC into the 80's, admittedly a weird thing to do, but there is no heat mode or heating element. Only Cool, Dehumidify and Fan. And Sleep (which is a lower Cool mode). Check the specs - you'll see I'm right. Really like this AC! ... show more

  • Was almost gonna return it but.................
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
I'm relieved to see others who have experienced and commented on the sometimes noisy nature of this machine. I don't pretend to understand how a dual inverter works, but I can tell you it tends gets noisy when it's transitioning from a light to heavy load and vice versa. In my experience, this machine does not like operating on low speed AT ALL, I either leave it a full blast or or set it to medium. The unit exhibits an annoying resonating sound at low speeds and like I mentioned earlier, when it's in different states of operation. Often times resolved like others have said, by just smacking it on it's side, or re-adjusting it. I can only surmise that LG cheapened out on the rubber isolators used to mount the compressor to the chassis, which is inexcusable for a $700 machine. I would also fault LG for their lazy approach to connecting the hose to the machine itself. My 15 year old cheap Della portable A/C had a quick disconnect, that was very convenient for cleaning. In the end I decided to keep it because once it settles down, it does become exceptionally quiet, and it delivers on power consumption. I used a commercial grade wattage/amp meter and compared it to the live power consumption reported in the LG app, and it was surprisingly accurate. Where this machine excels is it's actual performance. It brings my first floor down to temp faster while utilizing literally half the power of my old portable AC. ... show more

  • Does NOT cool a 450 SF room as stated
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: Black
My room is less than 200 SF. It’s 84 out. A temperature gauge says that it’s almost 76 in my living room away from the unit. I moved it closer & it’s 66 there. It might actually go down if I leave it longer. The fan is set on high, but as others have said, I can’t feel airflow 4 ft. away. The unit has been set on 60 for days. I have French doors & was hoping that this unit might keep that room cool as well. The doors are shut & that’s not going to happen. I wonder what temp LG says this thing will get a 450 SF room to? It is able to keep the room comfortable when the outside temperature is 93. I am happy about that. I don’t know what will happen when it gets to 98 & above. I do think that this unit would be a money saver in keeping a bedroom or living room more comfortable while keeping the house central a/c set higher. It was easy to set up. I purchased the black unit which was listed at $499. The white unit that appears in the same listing has an inverter & sells for $699. I bought my unit based on a Popular Mechanics review. They obviously were reviewing the more expensive unit. The different units should be listed separately!!! They are very different. I am in humid Houston. I am not having to dump any collected water. This thing is supposed to use evaporation to get rid of water if set on just the cool mode. My digital meter shows 73% humidity. Another reviewer stated that his unit leaked & damaged his wooden floors. I don’t feel a need to set this on dry mode & deal with water collection. Not having to dump water is a huge plus for me. I will say that if you need a cold room to sleep, that you could put this thing adjacent to your bed, you could get it to blow on your face & that you could sleep great. I am very happy with the noise level. It never stops running here when set on 60. I don’t think cycling on & off would be an issue due to noise. I think that it’s about the same sound level as a typical window unit. Perhaps I should add that I can sit right in front of it with the air blowing directly on me when it’s set at 60 & not get cold. I would say that the air coming out is not 60. It does feel good. It’s now 11:40 p.m. & the outside temp is 82. My digital thermometer is reading 77 a little more than halfway across the room from the unit.I might return this thing. For $500. it should be cooling this small room more. I’m glad that Amazon has a generous return window. Lowe’s does not. I’ll return & add more later,if needed. ... show more

It has been working flawlessly since I bought it. It's a workhorse. Energy efficient when using sleep mode. Less noise when using sleep mode. Does not measure room temperature accurately but it's not a problem for me. You can use LG app to set schedule and control the AC, it comes with a remote as well. ... show more

  • Sturdy and quiet with two minor caveats
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
I have three different portable air conditioners and this is by far the most quiet. It is also the largest with a bump out towards the bottom of the unit in the back. This a/c has a nice big display of the target temperature and actual buttons to press, which I love. The other a/c units I have use touch sensitive controls, but no real buttons to press. The unit comes with the hose attached (great feature!) and it easily retracts into a dedicated space for easy storage. There is also a place to wind the cord for when it is not in use. The wheels on the bottom of the unit move easily over carpet and, though it is bigger than I expected, I had no trouble moving it alone. My only complaints are that at the high price point: 1. I wish the exhaust hose were longer. I have (tall-ish) casement windows, which the hose reaches, but without much extra. I would prefer an extra 12" of hose to make it easier to reposition the unit once the hose is attached to the window. 2. The window adapter does not work for casement windows or sliding doors. It would be nice to be able to purchase a unit that gives the customer a choice of prices for units that come with different adapters for various types of windows, and in different materials: cloth, metal, plastic, and plexiglass. ... show more

  • $700 ‘Quiet’ AC Failed After One Season. LG Won’t Honor the Warranty
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
One star : for a $700 unit that failed after a single season and a warranty service process that refused to do anything about it.” I purchased this unit in June 2025 for approximately $700, specifically for quiet bedroom use at night. It performed well its first season. This season, after careful winter storage, it developed two clear problems: excessive noise in COOL mode and an inability to cool the room to its set temperature — running at 61°F all night and never getting the room below 72°F. I filed a warranty claim. What followed was one of the most frustrating consumer experiences I have had with a major brand. Two separate technicians visited. Both arrived unfamiliar with the unit. The first misidentified it as a heater/AC combo — which it is not — used that misidentification to dismiss the noise complaint, and left the unit partially disassembled. The second was unable to open the back panel without scuffing the machine. His diagnostic consisted of repeatedly turning the unit on and off — despite the noise only occurring after the compressor kicks in — while on the phone with remote tech support, holding the phone up to the unit. No proper testing was performed. Remote tech support then deemed the cooling failure acceptable and rejected our claim. They refused to speak with my wife, who was present throughout. Miguel, our Presidential Liaison, was courteous and responsive. That is the one positive I can offer. But courtesy does not fix a broken machine, and after two incompetent service visits, our claim was closed with no resolution. The unit is still loud. The room still does not cool. The warranty expires June 22, 2026 and LG has done nothing to honor it. I expected more from a brand of this caliber. I will not be purchasing LG again. ... show more
