Adding this memory to an older PC really saved me the pain of buying an entirely new system. I go to grad school online, and we use proctoring software that's very resource-intensive. It involves a proctor watching you via audio and video, while they have control of your PC and screen. (ugh, super invasive for sure, but it's required.) Anyhow, my PC was struggling and I was getting held up almost every time i went to schedule an exam. (which really stressed me out right before I had to take it.) I had my brother-in-law help me install this. It took him about 45 minutes from start to finish. (like up and running.) I just took my first proctored exam with the new memory installed and it went so much smoother. No lag, and the proctors weren't claiming they couldn't hear/see me anymore. Big sigh of relief as I cruise into the last semester of grad school. Oh yea, did I mention these memory sticks LIGHT UP? So if you're into gaming or just like a super cool PC at night, you'll love that part too.

I used this kit to put together a system on an Asus TUF x870 WiFi Plus board with an AMD Ryzen 9800x3D. I chose this motherboard because it was specifically listed as been compatible with this memory. I would double check when building to make sure the motherboard and RAM indicate support. This kit is great overall. Speed is decent, the modules themselves feel great and the RGB element works great and is synced with the other system components. On initial boot, speeds indicated 4800mhz but thats to be expected until Expo is enabled. If you see your system only giving you 4800, check your UEFI/BIOS settings. Speed and timings are as indicated. I stress tested the system and memory with the expo settings enabled at the advertised speeds and everything worked with no issues at all. I hadn't used Lexar memory before and typically only used to buy Corsair or Patriot in the past. I feel like the only criticism is that the number of supported motherboards is a bit low. None of the crosshair boards were supported and some of the mid level MSI and Asus boards in originally looked at weren't supported. I can't comment on pricing since all RAM right now in 2026 is insane. I can say that it appeared to be fair for what the current market pricing is for it. For 95%of gamers out there, this is a great kit if your system supports it. The heat spreader feels solid and the modules fit nicely into the board with no issues. Overall this is a really great kit and it has been rock solid.

These DIMMs snapped into my MSI B650 Tomahawk without issues. The BIOs and Win11 recognized them immediately and updated the hardware specs automatically without the need for me to mess with the BIOS. I did not use any overclocking features as maintaining stability is my primary goal, my past experience with overclocking is that it really has no noticeable effect on the actual gaming experience, more of a bragging right only. Paired with my Ryzen 9 CPU, this combo with very stable for over 48 hours now. I used Memtest86 to test these RAMs and they were perfect with zero errors. All in all, since the actual memory chips in the whole world are only made by a few manufactures, I recommend go by price and not so much on the brand name. If you must buy RAMs right now in this crazy pricing, this Lexar Thor is as good as any other name brand out there, and I used many other Lexar memory and USB sticks in the past without issues and can highly recommend these RAM.
