Description

Our Mission Statement Take out the classic consoles and get them set up in the simplest way for modern displays that are omitting old cable hookups. This is an affordable & convenient option to get good video quality when it comes to retro gaming. Go back and experience all the things you missed as a kid: the games, the consoles, the controllers. Why RGB? RGB brings the best possible visual experience out of classic PS1/PS2 (PlayStation1/PlayStation2). So you can see the more defined colors, the clearer graphics and the sharper pictures when using RGB, compared with using AV. The example describes RGB vs typical display methods (S-Video, composite, RF) is looking through a clean glass window vs a dirty one. Make sure "Component Video Out" on PS2 menu is chosen to "RGB" mode or image can be tinted green because this cable need to utilize RGB signal. Manual Adjustment on TV This cable has been specifically calibrated for PS1/PS2. However, final output doesn't only depend on the cable quality but the games you are playing and television quality. Try to adjust the backlight, brightness, dynamic setting or other parameters on TV if you want to improve the display more. The PS2 games with alternate display modes:

  • Amazing! Much better than expected for the price.
I have tried a few RCA to HDMI adapters for the PS1 and it’s usually very rough quality and no quick options to switch to 4:3. This thing, on the other hand, is amazing! I don’t have to mess with any TV settings to switch to 4:3, the cables are very solid and do not feel loose like others, and my HDMI switcher has no issues picking up the signal. It also has USB micro for power rather than USB mini like so many others. So, it’s much easier to swap out the power cable if needed. Lastly, the power cable is about 4ft, which is well over 2x as long as many other products at this price tier. Quality is top notch, I thought I was going to need to mod my PS1 to get quality like this. All this wrapped in a 1-year warranty. Couldn’t be happier! I rarely leave reviews on Amazon but I love this product. ... show more

  • Worked perfectly! Right out of the box with my Playstation 1 (aka PS1)!
I did not have to do anything for it to work with my original Playstation 1 console!! Just plugged it into the console, then plugged it into one of my HDMI ports on my 4K TV with the HDMI cable provided, then plugged the +5V usb power cable that was also provided into my TV USB port. Set the TV to that HDMI input source and turned on my PS 1. Boom! Perfect quality video equal to if not better then the original PS1 to TV input to analog coax cable Channel 3 or 4 (which could never work as that capability no longer exists on modern TVs)!!! There is an additional setting in the PS1 setup menu (just boot without a game) that allows you to switch from 4:3 to Widescreen. Mine automatically selected Widescreen, but if yours did not, you can switch it then. It also automatically switched from Mono to Stereo sound, but the same setup menu allows you to choose if it did not do it automatically. Awesome product and made it super easy to wire up my old console!!! I am now back to playing Crash Bandicoot like I did years ago! Super fun! ... show more

  • Great fix for PSOne Displaying in B&W
I was very skeptical this would work for me because I tried several Playstation branded cords when trying to connect my PS One to an older TV and none worked; the screen played in black and white each time. This worked perfectly. Everything runs smooth, is in color, and looks great. I'm so happy I bought this. ... show more

  • Does the job, could be better
I use this for my ps1 and ps2, you can tell the difference but it isn’t huge as a retrotink would be. The before and after compares the AV Cable vs the hdmi. If you’re OCD, it can also be a little annoying to see so many cords since you have to plug in a few different things with the the usb and hdmi. ... show more

  • No issues here!
When my PS2 arrived, I used the RGB cables...it was rough. When I plugged in the HDMI cable, Star Wars Battlefront II and my other PS2 games were a lot more fun to play. I am very satisfied.

  • The Best PS2 Cable I've Ever Used
Over the years when it comes to Playstations I've used about every kind of cable you can imagine. I've used composite (blurry), S-Video (screendoor effect), component (EMI rolling bars), and most recently, HMDI converters. The first two HDMI cables I tried from other companies were terrible, and pretty good respectively. But I noticed the last one had a double image and and blurred text really badly on one side, so I thought I would give this cable a shot and see if it could improve the picture. Wow!!! Apparently some people don't like an upscaled RGB signal and to those I can only say...go back to buying component cables and get yourself one of those line-doublers that cost hundreds of dollars, I'm sure you will be very happy together. As for everyone else... I personally like my picture on the "soft" side. For me the mortal sin of video signal is "over-sharpened". What other people like to call "sharp" S-Video and Component looks to me like a screen door and a pixelated mess. Yes, to be clear, raw 480p signal from a Dreamcast or a PS2 is about the ugliest thing I have ever seen on an HD display. I MUCH prefer to see a 240p or 480i signal upscaled and made as clear and SMOOTH as possible. And smooth it is. As others have pointed out, the cables from this vendor that upscale strike a nice compromise when the signal is RGB. The signal is sharp, but not TOO sharp. It's smooth, but not blurry. It's a perfect compromise down the middle, and in my book, that's as good as it gets. RGB The last cable I used was composite to HDMI and the difference is striking when it comes to colors. The colors with this cable using RGB are much brighter and the color saturation is much better. Playing Gran Turismo 3 which previously looked like mud, now is clear enough to see what's on the screen, and I think I can safely say it looks about as good as it possibly can. There's no distortion, no blurring on the one side like the last cable. There's a switch for aspect ratio and in 16:9 the picture COMPLETELY fills my screen. No black bars on the sides like composite and composite converted to HDMI. Perfect. I was actually torn about which of my game consoles to get these cables for first. I have a Genesis with it's blurry composite, an N64 with it's dim blurry composite-to-HDMI that keeps dropping signal, a Saturn with it's bright but slightly blurry composite, and two PS2 (one North America, one Japanese). The one I play the most that has the worst picture (by far) has been the PS2. The Playstation 2 picture is simply garbage overall compared to the Xbox (which outputs 1080p signal that upscales beautifully for HDMI cables). Most of the games have horrible aliasing, jaggies, and in composite signal looks horribly dim and washed out. Unlike the Dreamcast the picture of PS2 just isn't clear and bright, and there only so much you can do with it. That said... The best you can do for PS2 games is either play the conversions on PS3/PS4 or play the games on PS2 with a cable like this. Both options will upscale and output smooth, clear picture (well, as clear as it gets). The most noticeable thing with this cable is that text is really, really readable, and the colors are the most vibrant I have seen for PS2. Again, if you like that pixelated over-sharpened look, look elsewhere. Get component cables and one of those fancy over-priced line doubles and go to town. But if you want clear, SMOOTH picture, THIS is the cable you want. ... show more
