Each light has two mast, and a stake. So you can set the height to be on the ground, about 10inches, or about 20 inches, this is really nice for so many applications where something tall is out of place or to short looks bad in the area, like a garden or flower bed. Assembly is mild force to push the fittings together, so fairly easy for most people. The stakes drive in straight with little effort compared to others. The stakes them selves are made of a plastic, but it’s pretty thick so the concern of snapping it in half driving them into the ground wasn’t an issue. A simple on off switch on the bottom of the solar cell rim makes it’s easy to control, really liked this, because most put there switches inside the light and you have to take them apart to get to them, but not this, much easier. ... show more

These lights are super easy to click together.. be sure to turn to “on” and turn the rod for the stake … You have the option of making them shorter, or taller too - depending on the stakes you use for them. The set comes with everything you need of course... Once they’re up they’re charging and the light we get from them is beautiful, a bit of a soft white light that illuminates our garden path … not quite an acre… They get a good charge even on cloudy days ! ...when I set them up, I wasn't nearly as excited. First of all, let me acknowledge that these aren't expensive lights--at barely more than five bucks per light, my expectations weren't sky high. And the overall quality is about what you'd expect from lights at this price. It's almost all plastic, but relatively sturdy, so I'm not picking bones with that. My disappointment, however, stems from two things. Based on the photos, I expected that the light color temperature would be on the very warm end of the spectrum, which is what I wanted for something that is about setting the mood, not about maximizing light output. Unfortunately to my eye these are anything but warm white. At best they're a 4000K, but they seem to almost have a bit of a purple-ish tinge. They do their job as lights, but they don't give a warm glow that I was hoping for and expecting. The other thing that I found disappointing is that--again, based on the product listing photos--I thought the LED "filament" inside the light would be sort of a corkscrew shape, which I thought was cool in an edison bulb/steam punk kind of way. Alas, they're not a corkscrew shape, they're a flat, two-dimensional squiggle. From a distance it doesn't matter, but when you're up close from different viewing angles, you can tell they just don't have the depth of a 3D spiral. From some angles it looks like a squiggle, and other angles it looks like a straight bar of light. These just don't have the "wow" look that I expected after seeing the product listing photos. ... show more

These were simple to assemble and simple to place in place. What attracted me most was the unusual, zig - zag shape, filaments inside.
