  • Very pleased
Color: Cherry SunBurst
My guitar arrived in great condition, no shipping damage. Packed very well. The finish is flawless. I literally cannot find a blemish. The action is nice and low and the frets seem level and no fret buzz. Hard to believe it seems to be set up well from the factory. Ironically this is my second mail order guitar that was set up well. Maybe it's just luck. Weather was warm, so I didn't really have to let it acclimate much. Took my time slowly tuning up, as I didn't want to put too much tension on the neck too quickly. Factory strings shipped quite loose. I'm sure these strings are crap, but I will leave them on for a bit until I get the guitar "broke in" and then put some quality strings on her. Pickups are clear, and nice tone. Not very hot pups, but I didn't expect that on a guitar at this price point, but they're surprisingly decent. Tone and volume knobs function as designed. Some of these models came with Grover locking tuners, this one did NOT. Once the strings stretch in and the neck settles, I'll have a better idea of tuning stability. The obvious items worth upgrading would probably be the tuners and the nut. Other than that, very pleased. Stunning beautiful instrument. Helluva guitar for the price point. ($189). ... show more

  • Beach Cross Fade LP Style
Beautiful Quilted Veneer on Mapletop with Mahogany Body Singlecut LP Style guitar.12lbs. This guitar came with the upgraded pups that sound vintage. Did my normal setup of setting trussrod perfectly straight frets were already level just needed Dremel polishing, new set of strings, my preferred DdarioEX110 Set low action, sound great, lots of sustain, comfy neck 12" radius, 22frets. I upgraded to roller bridge stays in tune with original tuners. What's not to like about this guitar. Glad I got this when I did since I haven't seen them available anywhere. Thanks LEO Jaymz for good looking, great build quality and affordable rock machine. ... show more

  • Decent cheap guitar, but .... (updated)
Color: US Flag
I've been playing guitar for many years and ordered this because at the price it could at least be wall art. Overall it seems a decent budget guitar but mine first came with some serious issues. On unboxing, the strings were completely slack and there was no tension in the truss rod at all, but the neck still had too much relief. After tightening up the truss rod and tuning it up, I discovered a really bad low 21st fret affecting the G, B and high E string. On the last two, the 20th and 21st frets play the same note, and from the 19th to 20th fret was a whole step, not a half step! That low fret was a fatal defect because it would require replacement, not just filing and crowning like a high one, so I sent that guitar back. I considered a refund but decided to give it one more try and that came within a day. Guitar #2, interestingly enough, had some tension in the truss rod and strings. The truss rod only needed a tiny tweak, then lowering the bridge a hair, and there are no dead notes. Hurray, a playable guitar! The tuners do what they're supposed to do, as do the electronics. The pickups have their own tone, certainly not high gain, which suits me. I'm not a pickup swapper; between pedals and amps, there are lots of ways to dial in tone. A minor quibble is the fret ends could be rounded a bit smoother but I've felt worse on much more expensive guitars. At some point this might be a candidate for a Plek job but it's playable as is. So bottom line, once the defective guitar was replaced, this is a decent bit of gear at a comfortable price. The flag does look cool and really seems to fit this LP body style well. If nothing else, I'll be bringing it out on holidays like the 4th of July. ... show more

  • Excellent guitars that will need some TLC. Amazing guitar and sound!
Color: Skull
I'm reading some of the reviews and glad I didn't listen to some one offs. This is a solid guitar at this price range! I had an Epiphone 'similiar' model which didn't compare. Sorry never a Gibson owner because of the price! I'm not knocking Gibson or Les Paul but you charge way too much for your guitars! I'll start with the CONS: First, you have to know how to setup your guitar. If not have a local tech do. Should be less than $100 or learn yourself. Slight fret buzz but not bad (some metal shavings came off from the dremel polishing), lowered the action, the strings were fine (.10s I think) if I could salvage them. But cut em. Polish the frets, oil the fretboard, check your truss rod (mine didn't need adjusting)!! Check your intonation in case. This all goes for a $3000 guitar too ya know!! USA driven, China manufactured, to check for QA. PROs: This has become my new favorite guitar! It's beautiful! The hardware, body is solid, pickups, pots, detail, all good. Heavy but what a quality tone. Excellent! If you have an issue out of the box I expect good things from Leo support, didnt need yet. Please dont dissapoint Leo service! Play through some 'decent gear' and it sounds bright, vivid, loud, beautiful. Overall: Impressed does not explain my first reaction. I bought the Tempest model because I am just overall curious about Leo design, quality, and beauty at this price point! I expect this guitar to remain one of my favs! Update Mar31st - Needed to order a new bridge since E, B were rocking and loose. Asked LJ for support. They offered $20 to replace the bridge. Ok so I did. Next purchase I may send back to Amazon if it has issues. Leo Jaymz support is all email. Support lacks a decent response and time. A live person would be nice too! Add 4-28 Also bought the US Flag guitar. Needed the nut raised slightly. Put some thin double adhesive under it, glued it back in. It's a cheap nut unfortunately but works. Got the annoying mysterious buzz out and action lowered more too. Now it rocks! Still the bridge is cheap and will replace. These things setup right are hard to beat for this price. Sounds amazing! ... show more
