  • To be honest... Its a great laptop and very useful in different ways. I took a chance on this and I am very pleased.
I bought this laptop because I needed something with power that was light enough to place on your lap but tough enough to get real work done. I am typically a support of Toshiba only but I use economy model of this laptop at work and i was pleased so I took a chance on this. My honest review is that this laptop is powerful, sturdy, and the very very pretty looking. the screen is definitely a 4k screen, all my programs look fresh and amazing. tablet mode seems to work very well. As far as software, i have install the entire Microsoft Office Professional Suite which is several programs, and all run smoothly and amazing. I have installed several graphic design programs (entire adobe creative suite) and it seems to run very quickly and smoothly as well. The metal frame is very nice and sleek. So far I am very pleased, I hope it continues to operate this smoothly. I bought a 2 year warrenty which i think is over priced but i wanted that safety net. My only con is the it did not include a stylus pen... I bought the 30 Lenovo pen, its cool but over priced. In all, I take my computer seriously and I did my research on this unit and again so far I am very very pleased. ... show more

  • Faulty Product
Unfortunately this Lenovo has the same problem of the black line in the top right corner of the screen as every other Lenovo of the same model. Why Lenovo is happy to send faulty products out to customers and damage its name beyond repair is beyond me. I bought this PC because it has the best specification and versatility for the price, which is still quite a lot of money for me. Since my uncle brought it over for me as a special favor from the US to outside of the US it is impossible for me to return it. There seems to be nothing I can do except say that I'm not happy with this transaction. I would appreciate some compensation, though obviously I cannot return the faulty product as I am already outside of the time frame and outside of the country. ... show more

  • Love this laptop!
Absolutely love this laptop! It is amazingly fast can keep up with the most complex tasks without a stutter. The touch screen is super sensitive and I use the pen on it to draw all the time. I use this with the newest version of unity designing some simple games mechanics as well as have Maya running flawlessly. So, this allows me to do a lot of the stuff I would normally need to do on my home computer and wouldn't even dream of doing with mobility while mobile! Also, I do a lot of gaming on this machine I prefer games that can easily be played with a controller with this machine though because even with a USB mouse using the on board keyboard can be a little clunky if I really get into a keyboard mouse game I flip the screen so the keyboard is behind it and use a USB keyboard and USB mouse. I do notice, a low battery life when using heavily but that is to be expected, thankfully I always carry a cord around so I can keep it plugged in whenever possible. ... show more

  • Yoga for Linux
My review focuses on using this 4K laptop with Linux. To install Linux you need to be reasonably technically competent. Standard releases such as Mint won't currently install at all. To get things working you will need a Kernel as recent as 4.14 which is now released. Earlier Kernels may only give you partial support or won't install. I used the script tool by Linuxium (you will have to search for the website) to re-spin an ISO disk image. It worked well. In the BIOS you will need to disable the Intel RAID nonsense for the SSD and set things up for legacy support (no UEFI). In my case I trashed Windows 10 so I have no comment or experience of dual booting. Currently my system functions with WiFi, touch-screen, touch-pad (with gestures), Lenovo stylus & back-lit keyboard. The fingerprint doo-dad doesn't work yet. It is a good machine. The physical design is very reminiscent of an Apple Mac Book. It does have a significant design flaw: the power button is on the edge of right hand side so as you flip the machine into tablet mode it is easy to accidentally turn it off. Another more subtle flaw is the silly shiny bevels that it has. I guess they couldn't just admit that the Apple design didn't need improvement so they gilded the lily. ... show more

  • Good for gaming. Great all-use computer.
I love having every option available to me in a single gadget. A touch screen, a pen, a keyboard, USB ports, etc, and capabilities to do several things at once. This one definitely fits that bill, its got good speed and a solid graphics card for some decent gaming. (Note for Gaming: The graphics card can definitely rock mid-high level graphics on many games, but it might be best to designate full processor priority to whatever game you're playing, to keep it from slowing or jerking). Only drawback is no USB port, but I got a USB-C to HDMI adapter which works with the Thunderbolt-3. Overall, its great to have such a versatile machine. ... show more

  • Great Device if its working Lenovo Support is awful
The device performs as expected, the display and touchscreen are fantastic while working. Battery life is good and it has good cooling. However, all of the positives have been negated by a longstanding product flaw and lack of support from Lenovo. This model has had an issue for years where the touchscreen stops working all together. You can easily Google it to read the horror stories. You will also find that there has been no resolution for most. Another issues is that I found the warranty (according to lenovo's site) had expired long before it was supposed to. I currently have a ticket open to try to resolve this before I am even eligible to open a ticket for support with the touchscreen failing to work. So far it has been nearly 4 days with 0 response so far from lenovo over what should be an easily resolvable issue given i was able to provide the Amazon purchase order with a clearly label date of purchase. My only recourse is to leave a 1 star review to warn others of this before purchasing and hope that it somehow catches the attention of Lenovo to pay attention to me. I would not buy this product again. I would not recommend it to others. I would not purchase another Lenovo device either so I don't have to worry about needing to deal with support. I will gladly update this review to a more appropriate rating if I ever receive response or help from Lenovo. ... show more

  • IMPORTANT: NOT UPGRADABLE TO WINDOWS 11
WARNING: Please do not buy this laptop at any price if your planning for long-term use. I brought it 6 months prior to the official Microsoft CPU compatibility list. This Processor is not compatible even though it is an i7 because Microsoft wants to force customers to buy new machines. I have even seen on the official list supplied at the Microsoft website i3 and i5s being supported, but not this CPU generation i7 brand. Sellers on here are trying to get this laptop brand off their hands and are charging outrageous prices for a laptop with a OS that will not be supported in 2024 and is not up gradable through the traditional way for windows 11. Since the window of return has closed I cannot ship this laptop back. I brought this as "like new" and it came with all the boxes, plastic coverings, and ties. Look: There was a hidden dent in the middle of the laptop when I opened it up towards the middle of the keyboard near the screen area. Other than that I see no visible wear and tear. Chip: Comes with Nvidia 1050X chip for laptop. Battery Life: Not sure if it is this model but it doesn't take long for the battery to drain in 1 hour just by light browsing. Leaving it without the cable takes only a matter of 2 days until the battery is drained. It has bad battery life compared to the Ideapad 14" 5 which can last up to a week's worth of battery-life on light application use. I've deducted 3 stars because, while the laptop works for gaming and can handle applications such as Maya and Blender, it is not Windows 11 ready and therefore is a financial waste for a developer that also does game development and needs a long-time investment machine. ... show more

  • Machine is loud and the touchscreen stopped working.
The machine is loud and the touchscreen just decided to stop working. It seems there is an issue with Windows 10 updates that break the touchscreen (not confirmed but Lenovo's support is no help when it comes to diagnosing this widespread issue). I bought this specifically for the touchscreen feature and am severely disappointed. Lenovo's online help is also garbage. They just give you the generic "have you tried this" over and over again until they stop responding. I worked in tech support and can easily recognize this as "we have no idea why our stuff is breaking". I now have a glorified desktop computer. At least it still runs, I just can't use it as advertised (a laptop/drawing tablet). I wish I could take my purchase back and buy an actual drawing tablet instead. I will not be purchasing Lenovo devices for art/drawing, again. ... show more
