Great Customer Service When I received the Lenovo T470, it came with an incompatible non-Lenovo A/C charger. Upon notification, customer service promptly sent via expedited shipping two FREE replacement Lenovo USB-C chargers - no out-of-pocket additional costs for me. Though there were some initial technical issues before the T470 could successfully boot, customer service demonstrated its superior commitment to its customer(s), e.g. me. Passed all Lenovo Diagnostics - see picture As advertised, the T470 is in excellent condition. I ran Lenovo’s built-in diagnostics, and the T470 successfully passed all 9 diagnostic tests, e.g. the display test, in which every pixel looks great. Diagnostics also confirm the 16GB RAM, and the 256 GB SSD. And the battery has about 5+ hours of battery life at full charge. For me, the T470 is a tremendous buy, with great value for the $ spent!     • Computer doesn't recognize battery. Install Lenovo brand battery ( and take to repair shop)!
Repeated battery problem eventually solved with Instructions found in fine print section of amazon problems. Id I didn't find it , I would have bought a brand new battery brand name from Lenovo paying top dollar and paying a repair shop to diagnose the problem, doubling the cost I spent on the refurbished laptop. All they had to do was provide the frequently found problems on a piece of paper within the package. I almost gave up! Courtesy is part of service! ... show more

This is my second device from this seller. The other one turned out to be perfect and had BOTH internal & external batteries, AS IT SHOULD. You need to check for BOTH batteries right away. They are standard and the sellers should NOT be trying to rip people off by failing to make sure both are installed and operating at the renewed standard of 80% minimum. THIS device, unfortunately, produced a battery health report (via CMD) showed "no battery" for external and some specs for the internal, which is absolutely WRONG. I had plugged it in to allow a full charge while I did initial setup. After the battery health report, unplugged and removed external battery, reinserted & plugged in, NO RESPONSE. Laptop would NOT turn on. Did the emergency reset hole on bottom - NO RESPONSE. Tried a good battery from another ThinkPad - NO RESPONSE. So something is VERY FU with this device and it's going back. Already had this problem with a different seller, but was looking forward to a good device with THIS seller b/c already got one good renewed ThinkPad from THIS seller. Never got first one I ordered but Amazon worked with me well for refund. Turned around and ordered same one again, and this one made it. Happy with laptop, great for web surfing, videos, email. Impossible to beat for this price. Use it plugged in, so don't know about battery life. Perhaps a tad heavy for travel use, but overall an excellent machine for the price. ... show more

Update 10/18/2023: After using the laptop for some time, I have finally acquired a Thunderbolt 3 device and wanted to try it out with the laptop. Unfortunately, THE THUNDERBOLT 3 PORT IS DEAD! It seems like this is a known issue with the T470 and Lenovo was repairing them for machines that were still under warranty. Now, I don't know if this seller knew that this particular laptop had a dead port or not, but it's very annoying that I bought what I expected was a fully functional laptop only to find out one of the key features, a modern Thunderbolt 3 port, does not work. BUYER BEWARE AND TEST EVERYTHING WHEN YOU GET IT. SELLER MAY BE SELLING DEFECTIVE SYSTEMS. I've been a long-time Thinkpad user. I purchased this T470 as a replacement for my aging x220. Out of the gate, the laptop worked flawlessly. The battery appears to still have plenty of life left in it and the laptop was, overall, in very good condition. I did, however, notice a small crack in the plastic near the edge of the palm rest, but it's not noticeable without very close inspection and does not impede operation at all. Purchased a secondary, internal battery for this and a second 16GB stick or RAM and now I feel like I have a brand new computer, just as capable as anything I would have purchased new but at a fraction of the price. With the secondary battery installed I am able to get upwards of 6-8hrs of battery life, no problem (was previously 3-4hrs on the included battery). I am running Debian Linux and have zero hardware compatibility issues. The 4xx series Thinkpads are the last T series to have user serviceable parts (non-soldered RAM, easily changed batteries, discrete wifi cards, upgradable SSD, etc.). Thankfully, the 4xx series, despite only being advertised with 32GB max RAM support can handle up to 64GB and, with the M.2 NVME support, I expect that this laptop will last me a very very long time. ... show more

I am a big fan of IBM but this was refurbished so not factory direct. First it did not come with right charger. Then I ordered that and then I needed a mouse. Then you need to install software but honestly that was okay. So if you don't mind being your own IT department it is a good way to buy a computer for under 500 dollars with software and also security for it. I think the key is patience.
