  • Great!
Got this yesterday from Blue Donuts for my x220. So far so good, the estimated battery varies alot depending on what you are doing. On linux mint with tlp battery manager enabled I see 12 hours on full charge while on the desktop. While browsing the web the estimated battery time goes down to 7 on around 90% capacity. When watching video it goes down to 5. Like I said I have had it for a day so not sure how much battery life I will actually get, but it is alot better than the old battery already so I am satisfied. Side note: the battery from Blue Donuts seems to be 100% legit. Read a review on here saying that some sellers rebrand 3rd party batteries, not sure if that is true but it did worry me. The tlp battery manager on linux also gives me battery information and everything checks out. On the battery manager it tells me when the battery was manufactured, how worn the battery is and the company name and model of the battery. The name on the battery is SANYO which matches my older battery from 2011, 0 cycles have been accumulated (so it is brand new) on the battery and the packaging "date manufactured" date matches with what is on the software. I would recommend this battery from Blue Donuts, I’d recommend it over the standard 6cell because it will last longer and it only cost about 10 dollars more. Also, huge plus that you can hold the laptop while walking with the bigger battery as a handle. Thank you ... show more

  • Check your capacity frequently!
Ordered from BecTech Global. My original Thinkpad 9-cell lasted for six years and over 1,000 cycles. I could still get about an hour or two from it, but obviously that's longer than what you should do with a battery. This battery only lasted a couple hundred cycles and now only stores 5,360 mWh, which is about 5% of it's rated capacity. I have no clue what could have caused such extreme degradation. I used this for taking notes in class, and at home it was on a Thinkpad dock. I should have checked my battery stats while within the window to return, but I just thought my poor performance was due to my laptop's age. Didn't cross my mind that I had a dud battery. I think even if I had left this plugged in for a year straight my battery should not have degraded at this rate. But I had quick communication with BecTech. Nothing to do, but their communication was fast and professional, so I can't knock them there. I'll contact Lenovo and see what they have to say. This is out of its 1-year warranty, so they could tell me to kick rocks and they'd be well within their right. This is just a PSA to run an admin cmd prompt and type "powercfg /batteryreport" regularly to check your battery's capacity so you don't make the same mistake I did. ... show more

Charges as it should, and gives out a much longer batter life than original battery. The battery arrived in a package with a Lenovo sealing sticker on it--the product seemed like a legitimate OEM product if the seller is not a all-the-way forger. The battery works well with my ThinkPad X230. When fully charged, the remaining time shows somewhere between 5 1/2 hours and 9-10 hours depending on what I'm doing on the laptop (screen brightness around 70-80%). Right now the batter indicator says 4 hours and 15 min usable with 61% left in the battery. If I'm careful with battery usage and depending on how much I have to move around, I can make this work for the whole work day. Of course, it likely wouldn't last the whole day if you are going to sit down and use the laptop for 8 hours straight. But if you are going to hop around a bit and put in couple hours of work (something relatively light, like working on Word or PPT documents, not like heavy graphic editing or anything) here and there, this battery can get you through the day without plugging it in. I recommend the product especially given the price point around $70. ... show more

  • For those who just need more battery life
What I like: -I used to have a 6-cell 44+ which would last about 4.5 hours while surfing the web and watching videos. With the same activity, this 9-cell 44++ easily lasts 7.5 to 8.5 hours, almost doubling battery life -Since battery life is so much longer, the battery lifespan is also much longer to reach its intended number of life cycles -Does not overheat -Since it is thicker than the 4-cell and same thickness as the 6-cell it will elevate the back of the laptop by 1cm which actually makes it more comfortable while typing -Bulges out the back which allows for easy grip if I want to carry the computer one-handed What I don't like: -Even when locked in, will have very slight movement/give -Adds about 1/3 of a pound over the 44+ battery so that total weight of laptop is now 3.8 pounds -bulges out the back about half an inch, making laptop footprint that much larger What you should do if you buy this product: -Make sure to purchase from Liquid PC. They have fast shipping and the cheapest price, and battery is the 44++ version intended for the x230 whereas some sellers are actually selling the 29++ intended for x220 which will fit in the x230 but will NOT charge ... show more

  • Works Well, but Incredibly Hot Surface Temperature
Have owned this replacement battery for about one month, and so far it works well with a battery life that is much longer than the standard battery configuration. However, the left-side (bottom) base of the laptop is so very hot that it is not possible to have that portion of the computer sitting on your lap for any period of time. Quite frankly it is so hot that it seems very capable of causing fire if exposed to flammable materials for any extended period of time. I am careful to leave it sitting on a hard plastic surface to avoid problems, but the temperature does not seem normal to me. It returns to normal operating temperature when it is in standby or turned off. ... show more
