    • Great Value Machine For Basic Users
This is a great deal on a basic machine. The i3 chip and 8Gb ram provide a great foundation to a fantastic office level workstation. The included HDD is very slow though it does include a very clean, almost Signature Edition install of Windows 10. That was very much appreciated. As others have mentioned there are no additional mounting points for additional hard drives, though there is one available SATA port. For my use, I was able to install a Solid State Drive for the operating system and keep the 1Tb drive as a secondary drive. And as with Windows 10 there is no installation key so reinstalling from a thumbdrive was a no hassle ordeal. For the additional cost of a Solid State Drive this computer is a great deal and perfectly capable for most everyday users, either home or office. I highly recommend this computer with caveat that you install a Solid State Drive to get the most value out of it.     • Ideal Office System-Love this PC
I bought one in December 2016, and was so impressed with the performance that I bought another one in January 2017. These Ideacentre 300s are used in an office environment running MS Access (Database), and the rest of the MS Office line of products. Additional software includes Nero 2016 using an external Blue Ray Burner (archive backups), scanner software, Backup software, etc. Managing Large 1GB+ files, web-surfing, videos, and heavy Spreadsheet/Database use doesn't seem to impact speed / responsiveness very much or none at all -- after a Lenovo App and Windows 10 Cleanup - See following notes. These PCs are NOT intended for CAD, Gaming, etc., or for upgrading any components. . FOR MY FOLLOWING COMMENTARY, NOTE that if these various steps to improve performance are done incorrectly, you may NOT be able to either boot your computer at all, or you may NOT be able to login to windows—you CAN get locked out . . . I’ve been using computers / software since DOS, EDLIN, and BASIC, and I still managed to let this happen 1 time after I tried to cut off a particular MS feature and then rebooted--I was firmly locked out of logging into Windows 10. The Local Account login failed to work and the Web-based MS Account login/and reset would not work either! . To correct this mistake, I had to use my Bootable Windows 10 USB to 1) boot the computer after changing the BIOS boot information; and then 2), install a (previously saved) restore point from this BIOS-boot screen. These 2 protections are critical. 1) Make a Bootable USB as soon as possible after getting Windows 10 setup; and 2), Create a couple of restore points BEFORE you begin shutting down apps / removing programs / making changes to MS settings. If you are unsure of what this entails, you should AVOID trying any of my following note items. Warning given. . MY NOTES ON IMPROVING PERFORMANCE. . 1) I completely shut down every possible Windows 10 app that was not essential. Uninstalled every app that was not needed that show up in the SYSTEM SETTINGS apps/feature (some do not allow removal like off-line maps, sync settings, etc.), but can be turned off. Many however, so allow an UNINSTALL. Be aware that Windows 10 Home forces automatic updates on their schedule (other Win 10 versions allow delays for rollouts) and some of the Windows’ Home updates reinstall your previously removed apps—nice work, Microsoft. You can’t get a break. . 2) I changed the sign-in option to a local account with a PIN. . 3) I Used Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Lenovo Support apps, and uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 (under MS component settings) and shut down MS Edge (I use Firefox). I turned off Cortana. In previous Window 10 versions you could remove Cortana. I could not find a way to remove it in the latest window version. I turned off cameras and mics. (This is for business use as I stated). . 4) I used Windows GOD MODE + MS Autoruns (admin mode) + O&O ShutUp10 (admin mode) to cut off or deactivate the remaining unneeded apps/settings, targeting those apps that connect via internet to Microsoft or app vendors—or run in the background. Mistakes here will TOTALLY trash your OS and possibly make it impossible to recover your PC . . . . Overall, little bloatware with easy removal, and a great running PC after a good “settings tune-up.” This Lenovo hardware performs great for moderate/heavy office work. . BTW. Monitors, Keyboards, Mice, and a SSD for data. . I’m using an external SSD to keep about 100GBs of user data (never have kept any user data on Drive C since the ‘80s) and this increased performance significantly. (I'm using the 1TB HDD for the OS, drive C). PNY CS1311 120GB 2.5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - (SSD7CS1311-120-RB) . I bought Logitech wireless keyboards/mice combos - Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 . Logitech Wireless Mouse M525 - Black/Grey . I bought 2 different monitors: ViewSonic VX2252MH 22" 2ms 1080p Gaming Monitor HDMI, DVI, VGA ViewSonic VX2252MH 22" 2ms 1080p Gaming Monitor HDMI, DVI, VGA and a HP HP Pavilion 22cwa 21.5-inch IPS LED Backlit Monitor . I like the computer, but not Windows 10, so much. I don't want to keep purchasing rights to use what I've grown accustomed to be a one-time purchase for the Windows Software Edition. To use older programs, already purchased, you have to ignore or bypass all of the Microsoft installed products; or risk causing the ones we have to also not work. It's kind of a scam, that the computer companies bought into. Like I said, the computer, itself, is very nice and easy to operate. ... show more

Very good computer from Lenovo!!! Paid a little more than I wanted, but, worth the price!!! Free shipping without Prime membership and about $35 of the $400 paid was sales tax, so not a bad price for a new computer with an i3 processor and 8G of RAM and 1 TB of memory. The 8G Ram make the Windows 10 rum smoother than the 4G models!!! Have had this PC for a month now and everything has been great. Easy to set up and updated itself to the latest Windows 10 update right away!!! All in all a fast computer for the light gaming and other basic functions I am using it for!!! More intense games I cannot tell, I don't play them. If I were to guess, I think they would do pretty descent on this computer!!! Very pleased with my purchase!!! ... show more

    • not cheap and not acceptable performance
After reading reviews everyone said that this pc would get faster after updates complete. It did, however this 400 dollar machine is still slower than my 12 year old toshiba laptop which only cost 180 dollars. So after spending 18 hours doing updates to get it to where it claims to be up to date I'm tired and feel I've wasted my time and since nothing is technically wrong with it I can't return it and even if I could a replacement would no doubt just waste another 18 hours of my life for a sub par computer. This computer was the most expensive one I have ever purchased it is also the worst performing computer I have ever purchased it takes me several minutes just to load the calculator which by the way required an update to my version of windows to get. All in all this is listed as an inexpensive computer that performs well for the pricing, but it's not a cheap computer and it does not perform even half way decent. ... show more
