  • Great product, great company
My desktop works great, no issues at all. The company responded fast to my 1 question and they ship superfast. I placed my order around noon and by 3:30 the same afternoon I got the email saying my order had shipped. I picked TekRefurbs when I ordered because they were the only company in the list of choices with satisfaction above 90%. Definitely would order from TekRefurbs again. ... show more

  • CPU speed is not correct
The one I received is 3.1GHz not 3.7GHz as advertised. Value for the money for me that would be no, I paid less for two other ones at a different time same month (3.1Ghz HDD 1TB).

  • The computer was infected and the hard drive is failing. My personal information has been exposed and my work disrupted
This has been the worst experience of my life! I am working on a several critical campaign and humanitarian relief efforts in Hidalgo County, Texas. (where they are trying to build the wall at Santa Ana and we are having a showdown) so I bought this i5 computer to handle the data processing that I need. To start out Amazon billed me TWICE for the product and did all sorts of charges on my card and delayed it’s arrival. Then when I opened the computer it was locked up and another user named Jean Morgan ([email protected]) was still logged into the system. So I did several factory resets of the computer to try and get it usable and it kept saying that it was unable to remove all of the files from the system. This is AFTER it has connected to my home network and potentially infected my entire system. It still had VLC (a streaming program that I could not get off no matter how much I tried to uninstall it). I purchased LifeLock and Norton Security Premium (several hundred dollars) and had their specialist help me fight this beast and even they could not get the system under control or the programs removed. So now I dont known what content of mine or how much of my personal files were streamed out by this computer or how badly my privacy may or may not have been violated. The previous owner — if they are uninvolved — needs to be alerted their private information was distributed and delivered to another person. If it was a tech who did not fully reset this device then Jean Morgan has violated my privacy and needs to explain why VLC wasn on this device, the multiple partitions, and what exactly was in the i allocated space on the drive that I had to pay a lot of money to even be able to access. I am so behind on work now, I am frustrated beyond measure, and most of all I feel extremely violated and want to know what exactly was on this computer and what it did to my network and any of my devices on my network. I am working on a project to deliver food, clothing, and other critical services in a region that is being hit by unprecedented cold fronts and waves of immigrants and instead of putting me closer to my goal I have been set back immensely. I hope that Amazon and/or this buyer will have a heart and provide me a brand new faster computer system because I dont trust these refurbished systems. The hard drive is also flagged as about to fail and the system has critical warnings to it. It’s defective in every way. I don’t believe this was a law endorsement attempt to gain access to my systems because all they would have to do is ask. I also would like to know the chain of custody on this computer and every person that handled it before it arrived here. I also want to know where it was multicasting and if there is an innocuous explianation. There were files on my network that are being used in a DOJ and Texas AG investigation that (while not confidential) are sensitive and the data would be valuable for marketing, political campaigns, or obstruction of justice and/or intimidating me. I don’t even know what to think about all this, and am uncertain this is all innocuous but I am unwilling to take any chances on this and would like this resolved immediately. I have already informed the Texas AG: “I have a possible security issue and wanted to keep you informed incase it happens to be more than a really sloppy Amazon purchase. I bought a computer through Amazon (AST Advanced Skyline Technology) and it had another user named Jean Morgan ([email protected]) and VLC (a media streaming and broadcasting program) and it connected to my network. I am attempting to get some answers from Amazon and the vendor but I wanted to make you aware that I might need to bring it in for examination. If it turns out to be innocent I’ll let you know but I don’t Iike being exposed like this.” ... show more

  • not as described
Likely more the fault of the seller, we received a different and less powerful CPU than advertised. When contacting the seller they said it was an error in the listing and there's no way we could get what was advertised for the price. Bait and switch. The entire tower was wrapped in black vinyl to hide a scratched up case, the backplate for the graphics card punchout was missing so the case has a hole in it, and advertised "wifi" is through a dinky USB dongle that only supports 2G. The keyboard is decent, but the mouse is a tinkertoy. You get what you pay for I guess. ... show more

  • Can't tell if or when the cd drive is working. No indicater on drive
Not good that there is no light on the cd drive. . The power switch is on top of the case and is not seen unless you stand up. People in design dept. must not have to work with this machine. Mel

  • The unit i got was an all in one (screen with all else built in) not as pictured here
I was disapointed at no access to add RAM and other upgrades, but it works as is for what I am using it to do, Email, wordprocessing, audio recording, and other small tasks

  • Great everyday computer
Exactly what we needed. Not big gamers and don’t need it for a lot of work stuff but works well as an everyday computer to work on
