  • Great quality and playablity for the price!
Color: Black Night
I love it! I had a very nice Ibanez Artist guitar decades ago but it was stolen. I couldn't afford a high priced guitar and hoped this lower priced version from Ibanez would be as easy to play as my old Artist. It did not disappoint! I neglected playing for decades and over the years got weaker and have some arthritis. This guitar keeps calling to me and I'm getting stronger and better again! ... show more

  • Fantastic guitar for the money, I absolutely love it. Playability is top notch
Color: Black Night
This thing plays smoother out of the Box than my 90's RG. The guitar was set up perfectly with no bad or sharp frets and super low action. There is no hint of fret buzz and this thing plays as effortlessly as a more premium Ibanez. It is super light, but not cheap feeling. The Bridge pick-up has a big, lush tone that is on the clean side, but sounds great when you add some gain. The tuners are good quality, better than the tuners on my Wolfgang standard. I also love that you can split the neck pick-up into a single coil, it gives this guitar a lot of versatility in tone. Volume and tone knobs are perfect, slightly loose, but not too loose and the pickup selector is in a perfect spot and does not feel cheap. Keeping this thing in Tune right out of the box was a bit of a hassle at first. If you think it is going out of tune on you, it is not, the Low E and A strings get hung up in the plastic nut and put the entire guitar out of whack, just give them a yank, and Boom, the guitar is back in tune. My advice on a cheaper bridge like this is to get a heavier tremsprings so it comes back to rest on the body and does not float, this will fix the issue with the strings getting hung up in the nut after bends and bar dives. After that it is super reliable and stays in tune. The Gio is a very versatile guitar with decent hardware. You could upgrade to a seymore DunconHB-102 in the bridge if you want to dig a little more sustain out of it. If I had one quibble, this guitar is that notes die off after about 6 seconds on high gain., . otherwise, This is the perfect practice guitar for a beginner intermediate, or even an advanced player who wants to get a taste of the Ibanez sauce without dropping a ton of money. ... show more

  • Great guitar for beginners and intermediate players
Color: White
owned for a couple months at the time of review and I can say that for the price this guitar is hard to beat for the features it comes with. The strings were average, nothing extraordinary but quite usable. What sold me on this guitar specifically was having 24 frets and a whammy bar at this price point let alone from ibanez. You certainly get what you pay for as I noticed some imperfections in the white finish that couldnt be removed. Doing bends on this guitar I noticed that it definitely felt gritty and the tuning stability is not the greatest but will hold as long as you dont mess with it. I also noticed out of the box that the trem system had to be adjusted because the springs were pulling too hard, making bending up barely possible. The action had to be significantly lowered out of the box but at this point im just nit-picking and there was the obligatory fret buzz. This is a great guitar for beginners and intermediate players as it offers features when paired together are hard to find at this price point. ... show more

  • Fantastic for the price! Amazing
Color: White
This is a fantastic guitar for the price, another review claimed that it does not come with a wammy bar, this was not the case for me, mine came with it and everything that it claimed to come with! It plays amazing too, it has the sound of a very high end guitar in the classic Ibanez style, very nice pickups, fingerboard, frets, etc. And I actually quite like that it is a hollow body which does not seem to make the sound different. And it makes it light weight too, which is a plus because it is not a cheap light feeling, it is weighted very well. Overall a great product and I would highly recommend this to the beginner and even the more experienced players ... show more

  • I love it.

I had an rg120 as a teen. This is the exact same but pretty darn close. Oh the Nostalgia. A great guitar for a beginner and a darn good one for the rest of us.

  • You can't go wrong.
Color: White
I tried both Jackson and Ibanez guitars and I've returned the Jackson's to the stores where they came from because the Ibanez has much better build quality and parts quality as well. This particular model has a floating tremolo bar which is fun, but you'll find yourself constantly having to retune the guitar just as you would with any other guitar with a tremolo on it. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for this guitar if Ibanez would put a locking nut and or locking tuners on it to help with tuning stability. It's a lot better than having to pay someone (after you purchase the guitar) to put those parts on for you if you can't do it yourself. I've ordered a set of locking tuners for this guitar which should be here a couple of days from the date of this review, I'm hoping that will make a difference. Now, being in the beginning stages of learning guitar myself, I've also purchased the Ibanez model GRG121DXMGS Which I use when I'm actually practicing (pictured alongside this guitar in one of the photos), because the tuning is more stable, I do some string bending with it but it's never more than just a little sharp (or flat) which only takes a few seconds to correct before playing it again, therefore making it the best choice for absolute beginners. The GRGA120WH (the subject of this review), I use for just casual noodling because the whammy bar is a lot of fun (two guitars each with a particular purpose). Both of these guitars came pretty well set up from the factory and are very playable right out of the box. The humbucker pickups and 5 way switching provide different tones that are all very good, especially for rock or metal styles of playing. These guitars are lightweight (as guitars go), and sound great and they look good while doing it. I've also purchased an effects processor unit which allows me to get tones from this guitar that mimic those of my favorite players and that has just upped the level of enjoyment a great deal. One last note, the fret ends on mine needed a little bit of filing and smoothing especially those on the half of the neck closest to the body of the guitar, and, fretboards on my Ibanez guitars always arrive a bit dry so purchase some oil at a guitar shop to treat this and you're good to go. I don't know of anyone else who offers so much value/quality per dollar, I love Ibanez guitars and would recommend them to anyone, beginner or advanced player. ... show more
