  • Excellent Camera
Fantastic pro-sumer camera. Picture quality is exquisite. Good size - I don't find myself leaving it behind because it's "too much to carry". The zoom is ridiculously awesome for the size/price. Be careful with downloading your Adobe software. I clicked the download button twice because I thought nothing was happening, but sure enough, that used up both of my downloads and there isn't a THING that Adobe will do for you except allow you to pay for the most recent upgrade. ... show more

  • Love the Leica
Picked up a Leica V-Lux 30 for my wife who wanted to get back into photography. She is doing close up / macro nature pics and this camera WILL focus down to 1cm away from the subject. Incredible. 12.1mb is adequate for our needs and the Leica lens is OUTSTANDING. We have had super-zoom single lens SLR's in the past and then got rid of them because they did everything mediocre, not this camera, it does everything well. The next step up would be a professional multi-thousand dollar camera and for under $1000 this Leica performs right up to the top of the line cameras. ... show more

  • It feels cheap
When you touch it,you will feel it is cheap. But it is Leica! So it doesn't matter! And you must buy a memory card.

  • Great camera, but...
This Leica is a great camera. The zoom is incredible, the basic operations are simple (most of them -- I'll get to that in a moment), the photos are wonderful, the battery holds a charge for a long time. But... ... unlike EVERY other digital camera I have ever owned, the process of setting up the mode for the built-in flash is completely nonintuitive. I have looked at the manual a dozen times, played around with the on-screen menus repeatedly... and I STILL cannot figure out how to get to the flash mode settings. It's simply ridiculous on a camera this expensive. ... show more

  • unbelievable
i purchased the camera because i wanted to start photographing my two and a half year old. when it arrived, it felt light, cheap, and was small. but i did not judge "a book by its cover." When I learned the basics of the camera (enough to take pictures), I was blown away by the clarity, detail, and colors of the pictures on playback. Now that I am learning more about the camera (reading the manual in its entirety), I am realizing all the amazing features of it. I now love the "light, cheap, and small" camera, and would not trade it for anything else. I did research before I purchased this, and forget your typical Canons or Nikons; Leica blows them away, both in price and features. The camera's zoom lens is unbelievable. The details you can capture are outstanding with the lens, which is standard, and the shutter speed option is fantastic, so I never miss a precious moment, which are hard to come-by when photographing a two and a half year old. Definitely buy this camera, its awesome. ... show more

  • Buy the Panasonic FZ150 Version and Save BIG!
This camera is identical to the Panasonic FZ150K, also sold on Amazon. The only difference is the almost double the price and some minor included software. Buy theanasonic then, if you really want it, buy the software separately. I purchased the FZ150K from Amazon. Great camera at half the price of this Leica. See my review at the FZ150 page. ... show more

  • Leica or Panasonic?
This camera is a nice product. After investigation, it appears that the V-LUX 3 is a clone of the Panasonic DMC-FZ150. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-FZ150K-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B005HQ50SO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1340624071&sr=1-1&keywords=fz150 Panasonic uses Leica lenses for its camera, Leica uses Panasonic camera for its bridges. Thus the price may seems higher than required. Leica package includes additionnal software anyway. ... show more

  • Such Variety!
For whatever reason the included cord to attach the camera to my computer was wrong but that is my only complaint! I love the camera. The zoom capabilities on it are literally dizzying :) And the close up or macro is gorgeous! I bought this camera after seeing the great pics my friend took with it...and I'm so glad I did! I think the pricing on it is cheap considering the high quality! Not super intuitive...I do have to read the instructions, but I can live with that. ... show more
