  • Technics quality has improved 10-fold since the 80s and 90s: this kit proves it...
The final word: If you're a young [at heart?] Lego fanatic; a mechanically minded person who loves intricate details; or an adult who's niece/nephew/grandkid has a heart shaped like Legos...this is a good kit for the money. I purchased this as my son's big gift for his 6th birthday. He's been obsessed with legos for ~18 months, and this was my way of rewarding him and acknowledging his success (advanced lego set for 12-yr olds). I knew he would need my help in some areas, so we could do it together. Main takeaways if you're considering purchasing this as a GIFT for someone: 1) Make SURE they love Legos, AND have the patience to assemble larger kits with more pieces. ...Someone who struggles to do a 200-piece Lego set in one sitting isn't going to be up for a Technics set. 2) cleanliness and organization are king. We used one of my Husky parts bin organizers and separated the pieces by color to make them easier to manage ($10 at Home Depot). Finding the right lego part is a breeze. Cleanup is effortless: just close the lid and store it away. 3) If your child can't keep track of their Lego pieces, this kit is not for them. Losing a piece on a set this involved means you likely won't be able to reach the finish line and have a functional [model] motorcycle. 4) The included instructions are excellent, and they can help you gauge your child's attention span/concentration. 5) The finished product, like many modern Lego sets, has a lot of unique pieces that really enhance the realism of the model. 6) Legos are pricey once you go beyond the beginner sets. I didn't like the ~$70-80 price tag, but the ROI is excellent. My son was thrilled when he opened the gift, and he talks about it regularly. It creates an experience where I can help him when he gets stuck, but sit back and supervise while he learns and advances his skills (with hands-on work, following instructions, etc) So far, 5-stars overall. Cheers! 🍻 ✌️ (and please like if you found this review helpful) ... show more

Such a cool and fun set to put together. The directions were clear and straight forward. Looks so cool sitting on my computer desk. Absolutely love it!

  • The mechanics are incredible!
This is the coolest Lego model I've ever built, and by far! As a motorcyclist, I really appreciated the dedication to making a really exquisitely engineered model. This isn't just a toy with two wheels and some spring for shocks. It has an ENGINE with two banks of cylinders, making a V4 engine. It has moving pistons within the cylinders. These pistons are attached to a crankshaft. The crankshaft is connected via a belt to the engine, which has a WORKING TRANSMISSION with a neutral, first, and second gear. You can change the gear by flipping the shifter to the middle, down, and up, respectively. The transmission is attached to the rear wheel via a CHAIN made of Legos. When you push the motorcycle around, you can see the transmission and engine and pistons actually moving. It's so cool to see how it actually works -- you can even remove the fairings to see the workings better! As to the build, it's pretty straightforward. The only thing I would change about it is the windshield, which is not hard but a soft, translucent plastic. I put it together in maybe 4 hours, and am looking forward to when I can do it again. ... show more

  • Honest review as someone who can hardly afford Lego
I recently got my hands on the Lego Technic Ducati Motorcycle set and here's my honest review as a person on a tight budget. Firstly, let's talk about the price. For someone who's trying to make ends meet, this set is definitely on the pricier side. I had to save up for quite some time to be able to afford it. So, if you're looking for an affordable Lego set, this one might not be the best option for you. Moving on to the build itself, I have to say that it was quite challenging. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, but it took me a long time to complete. However, I do appreciate the intricate details and the overall design of the motorcycle. It definitely has cool functions like a high-end Ducati bike, not so much the exact look though. But, when it comes to the functionality, I wasn't disappointed. The wheels really turn smoothly and the steering mechanism works as well as I expected. Also, the bike doesn't falls apart easily if you try to play with it too much. So, it's really something you can use as a toy. Overall, if you're a big fan of Lego Technic sets and you have the money to spare, then the Ducati Motorcycle set might be worth it for you. However, if you're on a tight budget or looking for a more functional toy, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. ... show more

Only dislike- not all bags were numbered. But it’s a great gift for young and old.
