    • Our favorite little astromech, but now smaller!
I bought this having already bought and built 75308. This set is about half the price of that set and about half the size, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's inferior. It has about half the bricks of the previous set and isn't as detailed due to its size, but for a much lower price point, that is to be expected. I like the smaller size and I think the details it does have looks good on it. The only thing I don't really care for is the accessories. The larger build allowed for the different Artoo arms to fold up into the body. The accessories here involve you taking off the panel and replacing it with the accessory. It's fine, but you run the risk of either losing the panel or losing the accessory. The middle leg also doesn't go up into the body, it attaches to the bottom. Probably harder to lose, though. This set doesn't have the black box of the other adult oriented sets, but I would say this set is probably more adult friendly than kid friendly. I don't have any kids, though. It was easier to put together, even with the technics skeleton. The skeleton of the bigger set is way more intricate, so this might be a little more kid friendly. I think regardless of whether or not you have the bigger set, this is a good set to get. Also, it comes with a Darth Malak minifigure (from Knights of the Old Republic) and an R2D2...which if you build and collect Lego Star Wars sets, you probably have a lot of by now. I'd love to see them make a similar set, but with Chopper. ... show more

This lego was a birthday gift for my grandson. He loved building R2D2, he has been a Legos kid for many years. Loves the challenge, can almost build without the instructions, but I think it’s impossible .From the pictures I thought it was larger than it actually is. However, there are many pieces and this build, is fun because it features movable parts on the build. I was surprised & my grandson loved it. One of his favorite characters in Star Wars. Just treat yourself and buy it. I'm almost never write reviews, so this says a lot that I'm writing one. This is one of the most impressive kits for the money. The mechanics of the joints are genius. I love legos, but don't like displaying them in main living areas. This one is a major exception. This is a freaking bomb conversation starter. I mean, who doesn't like R2D2? ... show more

What a fabulous LEGO R2-D2 building set! My 9 year old grandson is a huge Star Wars fan, just like his father, so he will love putting this together. LEGO makes high quality products, and my grandson has many thousands of pieces for all the toy sets he has. Excellent value, with 1050 pieces. LEGO always has great instruction for the kids to follow, so there will not be an issue when he sits down to start putting it together. And I feel this set will be educational for him as he works it out. The detail of this R2-D-2 is exceptional. I assume this will take him some time to build and put together, but he is really good at this art. He will totally enjoy it. Very pleased and highly recommend. ... show more
