  • Coool Darth Vader
I remember when Star Wars first came out. it wasn't just THE thing it was everything. a friend and i tried hard to make the charactors and ships out of my vast collection of legos at the time. remember, this was the 1970s (that was LAST mellinium). we even took brown yarn and glued it on one of the classic bigger figures for chewbacca. what we did to make Darth's TIE fighter was even more hidious, we used duct tape!!! Now those days are past.....(sob) now i have this set to remind me of the good old days of a child's imagination. soon the movie blu rays will be out and all will be well again with the universe. Oh yeah, the set. looks great and fun to put together. i am going to have fun "shooting" it and watching it "blow up" with my X wing fighter 3/6/11 DONE took me a couple hours (and lunch) but it is finished. Cool thing about this set: there are a couple missles to shoot and a place undernieth for the light saber. I'd say the thing i like most about this set and legos in general is the while putting it together you don't know how the pieces work together until you are done. this is the case with this set in a big way. VERY cool set and very sturdy ... show more

  • Nice but
Bought this for my 7 year old Grandson because he loves all things StarWars. He has been to Legoland and just had to have this. Thank goodness he has his older brother and sister because they had to build it. He did put together Darth Vader and I think that alone was worth the purchase. Now that it is built he wants to play with it but of course it just breaks apart. No worries he loves it anyway. I would not recommend this for any household with small children. The parts are tiny, some as small as a 1/4" or less. The older kids loved putting it together and it kept them busy all evening. Very important to follow the instruction booklet provided right from the start. Great product for the right age group. ... show more

  • Overall, good product
Disappointing the condition of the packaging. This was not made clear from the seller, specifically given the amount of money paid for this item.

  • Awesome Lego Kit
My son and I built this together yesterday. (He is 6) We had a great time working on it together. He loves that it came with Darth Vader and that he can sit in the ship. As with other Lego kits, the quality is extremely high. The pieces all fit together and make solid connections. Pieces are straight, line up well, etc. This is very impressive on the parts where multiple tubes coming out of one piece have to line up with another piece's holes. He'll probably play with it fully assembled for another day or two. Then we'll pull it apart and add the pieces to his collection. This to me is the real strength of Legos. It's funny making something from the movie, but I think it is better for my son and more fun when we start building our own creations. The cool thing the film kits bring to the table are pieces that can be used in really creative ways. Figuring out how to put together moving parts is also a lot of fun and takes some real analytical thinking. I loved Lego as a kid myself and think they've done nothing but improve on what has always been a great product. ... show more

  • Beautiful look, but it falls apart at little more than a touch
I find it hard to understand why at Lego Design Headquarters they can come up with so many beautifully engineered sets, so that a youngster can assemble and learn from that effort, yet not understand that a child will want to play with the set too. Assemble this Tie-fighter and let a child play a little with it and the wings come off. The arms that connect to the inner sides of the large wings are really narrow, with the wings held on by only 2 or 3 points. If the child playing with this set is really unlucky, more comes apart than the wings. The set will even disassemble when you are trying to install Darth onto his seat. If you won't become frustrated by having to reassemble this set basically every time your child plays with it, until you're nearly blue-in-the-face, then go ahead. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere for a Tie-fighter. ... show more

  • GREAT Lego Toy!
This is a GREAT Lego toy that my son really wanted for Christmas and was totally thrilled when he received it. I was also very happy to see how well this piece was constructed and engineered. My son was able to read and most importantly, understand the instructions included. He was very proud to show it off after he finished building it himself. If your child likes Star Wars and enjoys Lego's, then this is a must have! ... show more

  • Great Gift for Star Wars Fans
I bought this Lego as a birthday present for my son--needless to say he is a great Star Wars Fan-- who turned 8. This is definitively the most accurate Lego I have bought to him. The design is just like the original TIE Fighter even the wings bend a bit to simulate the flying. Just a little remark and it is that if you are buying this toy for children under 7, you need to be near them as the booklet is not very specific on how to assemble the parts at some points. Also, it is not meant for rough play as parts fall apart easily. Besides that, I can tell you that any Star Wars lover will not be disappointed with this toy. ... show more

  • easy to assemble
great for teaching patience and hand eye coordination while following directions. Not too difficult for and 8 year old to put together independently, and gives a great sense of self satisfaction when done. All the Legos sets are too pricey for the "Play Value" in my opinion, but buying a few here and there can be good alternative fun to video games and shooting NERF guns ... show more
