I bought the Robooter X40 because it ticked off my boxes for maneuverability, convenience (fold up capability), lightness, and looks. I had done some reading about the product and its designers but hadn’t done a deep dive in terms of research. I had no idea what to expect when my husband opened the box and set up initial charging. Overall, I’ve been very pleased with the X40’s performance. I now have the freedom to get out of the house; this aspect of its value is priceless to me after a TBI knocked me down physically and emotionally. I was not even seriously considering a wheelchair until I read about Robooter. In terms of specific features, I admit that I didn’t read anything about how to operate the chair, I just “started.” I’m an Apple user so expect intuitive design; the X40 did not disappoint. At the beginning, I wasn’t a smooth operator in terms of navigating corners or in tight spaces - no accidents or injuries - just not as graceful as I’d like. :) It took about 3-4 outings before I learned to work the joystick and speed control with any confidence. The X40 performed very well recently both on the grade of dirt paths along the Delaware River Canal and in the crowds at the Hindu temple in Robbinsville. It’s a very comfortable chair and reasonably easy to get in and out of. (Getting it in and out of the car’s trunk is a little more awkward but not infeasible for either my sister or my husband.) In terms of improvements, I wish it were easier to read the info panel in daylight. For example, it is almost impossible to see how much charge has expended because of the lack of contrast on the screen. But, the chair is very efficient so even fairly lengthy outings barely used any charge - this is a real surprise and relief. I am not worried about being stranded. Last but not least, we’ve been very pleased with the responsiveness of the company - they reached out to us to make sure any concerns or questions were handled and they replied quickly and completely to our inquiries. It’s a big deal to accept the need for a wheelchair; the X40 has made it easy to take this new path.

I did a ton of research prior to buying the Robooter x40 electric wheelchair and it has really paid off. I’m an engineer and it is extremely important to me to ensure that what I was buying matches my expectations and needs. I spent multiple weeks reviewing the types of wheelchairs and scooters that were currently available. I was very impressed with the way the electric wheelchair expands & compresses to accommodate carrying it around. It expands & compresses in less than 2 minutes. The 85-pound weigh was a definite advantage since I didn’t want to move around a heavy wheelchair. I chose to install the available Robooter App on my iPhone and it is very practical & easy to use. I was able to make the wheelchair come to me via the App and found it particularly flexible in its operation and use. I love the way the battery can be charged both installed within the wheelchair or when removed from the unit. Removing & installing the battery is a very simple process. That’s a degree of flexibility I didn’t expect to see. This allows me the opportunity to charge multiple batteries which dramatically improves my range. I really enjoy the tight turning radius of the wheelchair too since I was initially concerned about navigating in constricted spaces, I quickly realized that it was not going to be a problem. My research concentrated on purchasing an electric wheelchair and not a scooter since I was concerned about using it in restaurants and small spaces, but it has proven to not to be an issue. The range or mileage of the Robooter was a huge factor since I wanted to use the electric wheelchair around town and on busy sidewalks. I have the Robooter installed on my car via an external hitch mounted power-lift, and it has worked out even better than I expected. I just collapse the wheelchair once it is on the lift and raise it up to ensure it is out of the way. The reduced weigh of the Robooter was a major consideration since I wanted to limit the load on my external power-lift. I typically find that you get what you pay for and the Robooter exceeds my expectations. It is one of the best engineered electric wheelchairs I have seen on the market. I have had numerous people stop me and ask where I bought it. They love the sleek design and the impressive functionality that it offers. It was a worthwhile investment since I can now travel in places I could not go in the past. I’m using the Robooter at my vacation house in Florida and will probably purchase a second one for my primary residence in Colorado. The customer service at Robooter has been extremely helpful. I plan to update this post in the future once I have used it more.

When a family member became disabled, we knew we needed a way for him to get around. The large custom wheelchairs are great but impossible to get into the car. This gives him the ability to get out of the house and be part of our everyday lives. It is sleek, fast, great turning radius, super easy to use. We’ve had zero issues with battery, steering or anything else. The only features that are missing are an ability to raise/lower chair height and ability to tilt back. But the trade off is that the chair is lightweight and mobile and perfect for all our day trips or appointments or errands. Given that the custom chairs (with all the added functions) are many tens of thousands of dollars, this is a great value and performs well above its price point. In addition, the customer service team is amazing! They independently reached out several times: to confirm the chair was delivered, to ask if an alternate joystick would be preferred, to offer a larger battery, and to ensure the larger battery was delivered. They answered all my questions and sent these additional items without charge. They’ve been absolutely terrific! Highly recommend!
