This is a neat little pot. Better built than their last version (which I still have running here at the "lab"). With this one, It is easy to clear the blockages than it is in their previous pour edition. AND if you put your mold right up against the spout, it will deliver excellent casts! The mold holder has been removed! The only problems is the trade of for this user friendly version, where the pouring handle does not become a nightmare (or yet for me), is you get a sturdy model but a small capacity tank..... maybe 1/2 the size.... maybe. That said, I would highly recommend this little guy to everyone, beginner or advanced. Its ease of use is as good as it's going to get. I wish I would have started with it! ... show more

So this melting pot seems to be good for smaller stuff like casting bullets, sinkers, etc. It is not meant for processing large amounts of lead. I was using it to process wheel weights. Pros; lightweight, easy to use, melts quick. Cons; Drips melted lead no matter how much you clean it, or adjust the shaft that goes to the pour spout. Shocks you occasionally when you touch the pour handle. (Shocked my friend so bad he flung molten lead at our feet) Hard to clean the gunk and slag. Bottom line, as long as you wear gloves and safety glasses and be mindful of what could happen, it’s not a bad tool. You get what you pay for. ... show more

Easy to use but does not tell you a lot about temperature or how to clean out slag from the drip end. You will have to research more on your own

    • Does not stay hot enough to do continued lead filling operations
When you add more lead to the Bowl even with the setting on high heat it cools the whole makes down so much that the tip will not let anything through until that he's back up for another 10 minutes or so. Yocan torch the spout and it will start running again but that's just a nuisance. Need ability to pull the rod out without having to unscrew it so you could drop larger chunks of lead in meltdown. ... show more

Plugged it in and got my metal melted, made 1 pour and it broke. Now I will probably have to buy a new heating element. Was hoping it would work better being a Lee product.

    • Only use clean lead
Only use this if you have clean lead ingots because if it’s not clean the whole where the lead comes out will be clog and you will not be able to use this unit again
