  • Good spectrum - not full
What do I want in full spectrum? Hit all photosynthetic peaks (at least).l of 430/453, 642 and 662 nm wavelengths. This is important to corals and plants alike as each wavelength provides energy for a specific function. 430 nm LEDs are difficult to source and usually are only found on the expensive LED lights. This light does a good job of covering a broad spectrum but misses 660 nm and the hardest to get - 430 nm. The UV does a good job at around 400-~420nm (had to scan the led individually with a hand spectrometer to get this weak signal - 2nd photo) but this composition is mostly missing between 420-450 and pretty empty above 650. This is probably providing good color but growth may be lacking due to missing key wavelength peaks. ... show more

  • Yes it will grow all the coral. Look.
It will grow everything from Xenia to to shelf SPS. Get it. Make the prices on the more easily controllable ones come down. These work really well, see the picture of the pink leather's growth in 18 months.

  • Perfect for me!
I bought this reef bulb to test it after I saw the reviews, and let me just say YES! This is the exact type of lighting I’ve been wanting my saltwater tank to have I currently have an Aqueon full spectrum LED strip and it does not give the type of lighting I was hoping for. I’ve only had a saltwater tank for a few months so I’m slowly building everything up to become a new reef by the end of the year and lighting has been been the hardest thing to find that’s not super expensive, high tech, with what I feel to be unnecessary for a beginner saltwater aquarium hobbyist, and for a low tech 55 gallon with nano reef fish. Definitely going to buy a couple more and clamp on lamps to mount them higher. ... show more

[UPDATE]: 22 March 2019 @ 7:43pm KINGBO contacted me about the light bulb and I informed them what happened and they gave me a 99% discount code to give me another lightbulb to try the product again! Good customer service and I will update the review when I receive it! The bulb burnt out as soon as I plugged it in... I am not happy with it at all. • "estimated" PAR value
Parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) 38 bulbs control light more precisely. LED PAR lights produce about four times the concentrated light intensity. PAR38 18 watt bulb produces 1460 lumens, comparing to NICREW 30" long panel light which produces 1600 lumens, they are close in output. That light tells you the PAR value at 12" depth is 110. So the PAR value at 12" depth by PAR38 18 watt bulb should be estimated about MAYBE between 300-400 There is a Youtube video showing a real PAR value test in a tank under PAR38 bulb. It did not tell you the wattage of the bulb or the depth tested. Look like a 20 gallon tank of 16" deep. The bulb is a few inches above the surface. The tested PAR value at the bottom is 200-250. The pro is, PAR38 bulb produces concentrated light for focal area with high intensity. ... show more

  • Nice bulb for the price with a few set backs
The bulb is brighter and larger than I anticipated. For keeping over my 2 gal pico tank I think it was a bit too much in-terms of brightness. I knew upon purchase that it was more along the full spectrum path. The biggest thing I didn't like was the the red LED, IMO was a bit too much and very noticeable. I actually ended up covering the red diode with black gaff tape but the color was still not to my taste. Quality, intensity and value are all there but as the description says its more of refugium light than something I'd want over my corals. ... show more
