I got these prior to deployment to Afghanistan as a Nurse. While there... lets just say I saw a LOT of trauma's and other medical emergencies and I used these things practically everyday. These will cut through an entire large roll of Kerlix if you're out of the small stuff... it also cuts a whole ace bandage inside the wrapper. Also sails through combat boot laces, OCPs and other wartime gear. HOWEVER, they do not cut single pieces of gauze/packing well... if it's thin it doesn't cut well, I used the el-cheapo trauma shears for that kind of work, but for heavy cutting it works wonders. The Molle holster works, and works well. I wore it on my plate carrier or my belt every single day I was deployed, I jumped, rolled and crawled with these in the holster and it didn't fail. This is a serious, heavy-duty piece of equipment. The construction is beyond sturdy and the blades are the thickest guage I have ever seen. They are also SHARP! Exercise caution while using and folding, because these are truly razor sharp. I got these for my husband for fishing, but I have ordered another pair for our emergency medical kit. They have a handy glass break tip at the end of one handle and a retractable seatbelt slicer for emergencies. You can choose a soft or a hard case, I got the hard one which is perfect for belt wear or clipping to a bag. They snap in securely. A seemingly single use tool has been made into a valuable multi tool with the thought and precision expected of the Leatherman brand. Worth every penny! ... show more

These things are definitely professional grade quality as well as function. The molle attachments on the little holster actually grip so well, it takes quite a bit of effort just to get them to release, so I will assume that they will not let go even under the most severe use. The clip on the shear that attaches to the holster seems adequate enough, but there are attachment points for a lanyard for extra security. All around great product, being that I am not an EMT, I feel slightly unworthy. 😆 ... show more

I was surprised at how much more comfortably these sit in my pocket (because they fold over) - plus they don't poke through your pocket. Other than that, they are what you expect from a very expensive pair of shears: great quality, sturdy, sharp ---- I won't retire for another 10 years and I've no doubt that these will still function just like when they were new. Amazon's price is on par with what you will find elsewhere. One of those few buys that you just "Must Have!" that actually lived up to the hype. ... show more

There Paramedic Shears are TOP NOTCH ! Being a former, Aux. PO, Vol. Fire Fighter and Professional EMT. I can state that these shears would have made my treating people on the streets MUCH easier. These shears are capable of cutting a quarter in half. Far cry from my old shears that could hardly half a penny ! Well done Leathermsn ! ... show more

    • Rusts when cleaned
I've had this for 3 weeks now, and I used it for several traumas. When cleaning the shears with sanicloth wipes, the shears have now started to rust at the pivot point and on the textured part of the blade (the bottom blade).

Disappointed!! After two days of use on the job, there are already rust stains on the blades. When I called the company to inquire about cleaning it, or replacement, I was told to try WD-40 but that’s a common occurrence!
