I happened across this while in search of something else, I thought it would be perfect for my 18month old niece because she still likes to shove everything in her mouth but being an artist myself I wanted to introduce her to art without having her eat crayons and such. Not only was this so cheap so even if it was a bust it wouldn’t have been a real waste of money. It wasn’t though. I gave it to her for Xmas and once she found out what it was it was the only thing she wanted. She had this thing in her hand the whole day and the hour drive back home with my sister. Got this to entertain my 3 and 6 year olds on a long car trip (10+ hours). These are absolutely amazing! Kept the kids quiet and entertained for a decent amount of time. They are still interested in them during the down time of our vacation. And my teenagers have also drawn a couple images on them too. Has magnets so they stick on the fridge. Only downside is you could easily lose the stylus - however, as my 6 year old quickly discovered, you can use your finger to draw as well. (It has holes so you can add a string between device and stylus if you want.) ... show more

Brighter than Kokodi. Wish I'd only gotten the Cimetech for Christmas gifts: its brighter than most, brighter across the whole screen, you get an extra battery, and the price is better! Drawback: it's small. But I'm told this Cimetech item is the EXACT one being used in grade schools. I hope they make these bigger...but for the small hands of preschoolers thru 2nd graders it works great. I recommend Cimetech! ... show more

    • A tale of 4 LCD Boards....

I purchased 4 different LCD tablets as gifts for the holidays.... One for my 6 year old to practice his letters and spelling, one for my toddler (because of course he wants everything his big brother has), one as a Toys For Tots gift, and one for myself because I got a lightning deal and it was hard to pass up. I had no experience with LCD boards going into this so it took me a minute to realize there was no “ON” button- you just start writing. I suppose I assumed they were backlit. At any rate, I tried all 4 boards out right away so I could see which ones worked best. All of them have perks, some being better than others. The brightest tablet in the group was the Newest board (orange), however it also picked up secondary marks from my hand the easiest. Still, this was my favorite out of the 4 boards and the one I chose for my 6 year old because he’ll be using the board the most for school and fun. The Mafiti and NEWYES boards were 2nd in brightness, with the Mafiti producing thinner lines and the Mafiti also came as just a board with no extras. This was also the cheapest board of the group with a lightning deal pricing it around $6. I got this one for myself as a list board and I think it will be fine for that. The NEWYES board was the only board that came with a lanyard and in my opinion this is the most useful accessory and I’d rather have this over the spare batteries some of the boards came with. My least favorite board is the Sunany board, although it came with the most accessories, including a screwdriver to remove the tiny screw for the battery compartment and a spare pen in case you lose one. While all of the boards are most dim in low-light conditions, this one was the dimmest of the four. All the boards brighten up and are easier to read when you’re in a well-lit room. Attached is a photo of the Sunany board both in low light and high light conditions. If I were to recommend any board of these 4 for a child, I’d definitely go with the Newest board, with the NEWYES as the runner up. I hope my review was helpful for someone out there who’s on the fence about which board to purchase :) ... show more

    • From Disappointed and frustrated to a happy camper
We lost our old Boogie board and decided we missed it. When I first opened the package I was excited. The board is larger than our old one which I thought would be good. The description says the board will magnetically stick to the refrigerator. It might to some but it slides right down our refrigerator. It does stick to our metal door. I wrote "Hello" on the board to test it. The Hello is still there as the board will not erase. The directions in the User's Manual say to replace the battery with a CR2032 if the board will not erase. After our neighbor found a small enough screw driver to get the battery cover off, we found that the battery is not a CR2032, but a CR2016. Still debating whether I'll make another trip to the store for a CR2016 battery or just return the board and order a different one. One final note- while packaging the board for possible return I discovered that the box the board came in says the battery is a CR2016. I returned the original Board and requested a replacement. The replacement works exactly as described. It erases easily. The board sticks to my refrigerator. I also discovered there is a hole in the end of the stylus and a small hole in the top right corner of the board so you can tie the stylus to the board. They even included an extra battery with the replacement board. I look forward to using our new board. ... show more
