This is a great product for a kid to learn to draw and do anything such as letters or words or even simple math. This what I'm calling an epad due to the fact this device acts like a pad of paper you can use over and over. (As long as you have a good battery of course.) I bought this as a toy to give a four year old but the package came with two epads so I tested it out. I loved it after only ten minutes of playing with it by drawing simple alien fish which is a hobby of mine. I tried different writing instruments such as a mechanical pencil and some other non-marking items. The pen that came with it seems to work out best. The detail you can get is not picture perfect but I think it's good enough for simple drawings and things a child would draw. The simplicity of erasing the drawing is perfect for lack of a better word. You push the switch on the left to the left press the center button and like magic the picture is gone. Be sure to push the switch to the right to lock the erase button out or you'll lose a good picture you might want to take a snap shot of with your digital camera. Now there is one note on doing this: You get a lot of glare off the screen so you have to use bright indirect light to get a good picture. But this can be done. Finally for what it cost me about $33.00 I got two epads in the box and they are only about 1/4” thick even with the drawing pen that comes with them. This is a great Christmas buy for your child or grand child who loves to draw. Allen Yoakum P.S. I wanted to add that this is great for saving ink pens and paper while learning a new language. I'm learning German right now and on a hunch I started using this device to write over and over the words from video lessons. I was amazed! I learned over the course of two days about 10 words and how to put them together. I just kept writing and writing till they were drilled into my mind. This might seem like a "toy" for five to seven year olds but it's just as much useful in other areas. If you want to save the cost of paper that CAN'T BE REUSED & INK PENS. Or this pad that might need a battery every so often that will cost $30 for two if the price stays the same then I think this is the better choice.

Got these as gifts for the kids, the youngest is 18mo whole the oldest is nearly 5. These are holding up great with both of them! Great source of entertainment and creative doodling. We've seen a number of foot prints (from being stepped on) without any cracks. Would recommend!

Great device to keep the kids engaged during quiet time, long drives and at restaurants. We loved our sketch pads. Unfortunately, the pen snapped off from the pink one. Wish there was another way to secure it.

Does the job! Has a screen lock on the bottom so you don't accidentally erase your art work. Perfect for my 6 year old after a previous one broke. Has a attachment to clip pen to the side so it doesn't get lost!

I ordered this set twice and both times the wrong batteries had been installed so the erase feature didn't work. I had to purchase the "25" batteries instead of the "36" that had been installed and everything then worked as it should have. Not happy that I had to purchase batteries separately. It was disappointing to my children that they didn't work right away.

The best thing about this product is your getting what you intended to buy. Sometimes Amazon disappoints and the product is smaller than expected/not what was expected but this was exactly as expected. A drawing board that clears. Also a perk is you don’t have to use the pencil it comes with. You can use other things.
