  • Buy this for functionality and not the cheap feel
This was a very inexpensive capacitor tester and it did exactly what I needed it to do! I tested this on a brand new capacitor and it measured almost exactly what was on the capacitor's label. The unit feels cheaply made. The stand was difficult to pop out with the rubber cover in place. It was also impossible to remove the battery cover because the rubber cover kept the battery cover in place. The cover is very easy to remove. The instructions were what you expect from something cheaply made in a foreign country. Full of odd English phrases, but good enough to get the point across. Nothing quality about the instructions. Overall, this meter is good for what I need and it didn't cost much. ... show more

  • Caveat emptor - you (don’t) get what you (don’t) pay for
I know better than to expect a whole lot out of such an inexpensive meter, but I only used it maybe a half dozen times over the last four months since receiving it before it stopped working - the test probes became intermittent and eventually wouldn’t render any reading. So I decided to open it up (two screws and plastic housing clipped together at a few points - not too difficult), and found that the solder joints that attach the test leads’ sockets to the printed circuit board had broken free. NOTE WELL: I have not at any point dropped or abused the device, but nevertheless, cheap construction and poor soldering (by a machine, no doubt) resulted in failure. However, I figured I had nothing to lose, and I’m handy with a soldering iron, so I was able to re-solder the loose sockets to the circuitboard, this time applying solder to both sides of the PCB thru-hole, so that downward pressure from inserting the test leads into their sockets won’t push against the one small solder blob holding them in place, as originally manufactured. The unit is working fine now, and I expect will continue to operate more reliably for the foreseeable future - until some other component fails. ... show more

  • The instructions are hilarious!
What did China do before Google Translate? The capacitance meter itself holds it's own up against a bench VOM. I wanted one just for my SMD parts that I didn't know the values of (you know you have a little pile of these!), so I put tweezer leads on it so I don't need to swap leads out on my bigger meters.I used these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LBLW4JT/ref=asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The only con is that the battery cover is a horrible design, relying solely on a single screw to keep it on (no slot opposite the screw), but what do you expect off a slow boat? ... show more
