I ordered this light to replace a hanging chandelier in our dining room that we use as a kids media room, and it's exactly what I wanted. It's bright without being overpowering, looks nice, and is well manufactured. I was able to install it myself, but I definitely recommend you have someone hold the light when wiring it up instead of trying to balance it on the top of a ladder like I did. After using it for a few months now I recommend changing the wall switch to a compatible dimmer switch because there are times it would be nice to have it on but not so bright, but all in all it's a solid unit. While redoing our kitchen I stumbled upon this light. Since we were replacing the old "box" light in the main kitchen area I was concerned that it might not be bright enough. Foolish me! Plenty bright, nice soft/warm color, no "hot" spots where you can see the LEDs, and it looks great. As others have said, the cover and metal pieces are a bit flimsy feeling, but against the ceiling you'll never notice. Installation was easy (it helps to have a 2nd person when putting on the cover) and fast. I also asked at a local lighting store for ideas - she sent me a different brand but basically the exact same light for $100 more! ... show more

After seven years our light quit working. No less than disappointing. Since we really liked our light I ordered another just like it. Same light as our original order. This light. Same model number. Same everything. We received the replacement promptly. Noted that the box had been re-taped. I also quickly noted that our light had been "cheapened" a lot. Lighter gauge everything. The mounting holes were nowhere near where they were on the old light. So much for just taking the old one down and quickly mounting the new one. After a lot of work, the new light was on the ceiling. Looks just like the old one. Very nice light in our kitchen. The dimmer switch compliments the light very well. Nice light, just surprised at the reduced quality. A side note. The morning after installation we noted scratches on the light cover. Big scratches. Sunlight on the new day allowed us to see. Recalling the re-taped box provided explanation. Fortunately we still had the old light with a perfect light cover. In the final analysis our light looks just like the old one providing very nice light in our kitchen. We are happy. Hoping it lasts a longer period of time. This fixture is ideal for a work space (home office, kitchen) because of the quality of light color (Daylight in our case) and the amount of light provided. I'm a senior and yellow light is harder for me to read by and make dinner. The surface mount fixture is elegant in appearance. Installation tip: this installation is more complex than most lighting I have installed. Definitely a two-person installation. It requires not only a ceiling box installation, but also four plastic anchors. Frankly it doesn't have to be both, but because of its length may benefit from using both techniques. This light is simple, elegant and very good looking with a low profile which we wanted to make the kitchen feel bigger. We replaced a bulky ceiling fan and light. It was a very easy install it took my wife and I about 20 - 25 minutes to take down the old fan/light and get this one up. We don't have a very large kitchen (10' x 20') and this LED light lights up the kitchen very brightly. I bought the GE LED dimmer wall switch to modulate the brightness to suit whatever the occasion.
