  • Handheld Aerator
Easy to assemble, and very well made. Size is good. Appearance is great. Well built and the performance works great. A+++

  • Great for patchwork, you'll spend all day doing a full yard
Assembly: Assembly was easy, just a couple of nuts and bolts that can be assembled with the tools they provided but I used my own! I also added some blue locktite to the threaded connections for some added durability and to prevent rust on the threads Use: I used this product to help plant some grass seed in my yard from where my dogs tore it up. It helped to wet the lawn a little bit and then press it in. I found that mud would often clump on the bottom, but there's no way around this for this type of aerator. It did its job fine for the patchwork I did, but if I was to aerate my whole yard, I'd rent one from a hardware store ... show more

  • Will see
The media could not be loaded. After I completed liquid aeration with a local company, he advised me to undergo spike aeration to see results more quickly. Although there are a drawbacks to spike aeration, I attempted this with liquid aeration. This is really durable; even after I used my laws several times, the pins kept in place and the aeration left the area tidy. I'm hoping this helps my lawn. We'll see. ... show more

The handle broke off in a month. It worked good, just was not sturdy.

  • Lawn Aerator
I have a lawn that has plenty of weird patches in it. It annoys me to no end- I live in an area with very rich soil, and in the areas where grass and plants are growing, they are lush. I've seen aerators in the past but I didn't get them specifically because they were so small and it seemed like a tedious task to put one row of small holes in at a time. The soil is great here but when it gets super packed, it definitely seems to strangle the vegetation, and I was hoping to work on that during the warmer months this year but I hadn't yet seen a solution that didn't feel a lot like manicuring the lawn with a pair of scissors, in terms of tedium, to me. So when I saw this aerator, with such a large surface area and so many nails, I felt that this one could be worthwhile to use and wanted to give it a shot. It came in 3 main sections, as well as the hardware and appropriate tools, for assembly. I did have trouble in a few spots with the black coating causing one thing or another to be either to big or too small; in each case I found it useful to just hammer the stuck piece through gently, and it solved the problem. The instructions made it super easy to assemble and I had it together and ready to use within 10 minutes- closer to 5, really. I have started to use this while my dogs are outside to relieve themselves. I just walk around the yard, place it, use my foot to press it into the ground, and then pull it out. It's so easy to use- which seems like it would be a given, but it isn't always, so I really appreciate that. I'm super happy with it! I'm really looking forward to seeing a more even lawn this year. This is a tool I'll be using a lot to loosen up the soil in my yard. ... show more

  • Works well even in my clay based soil!
This arrived well packed and packaged. Of course it’s heavy and durable so if any damage did occur in shipping I’d be shocked. Assembly wasn’t bad. You can do it alone but good to have a buddy just to hold it, especially when you start to install the pointy bits. One thing I suggest is that when you start installing the spikes, work from the center out. Otherwise you’ll have a hard time getting them tight. Once it’s together it’s got some heft to it but it’s not too heavy. It is easy to use. My loose soil took no effort at all. Just a step on it and the spikes went in. Areas where there’s still a lot of clay soil didn’t slow it down much. For that and other hard soil just gently step towards one side, then the other and it will work in nicely. I’m hoping the part of the back yard that floods some during heavy rain will drain a little better after I poked it for a few minutes! A big plus is that while you are using it, you are armed if a bear or something comes in your yard. :) Overall, a good product for a good price! ... show more

  • Good product, definitely recommend.
Very sturdy and well built. Works with ease. Some of the spikes loosen over time but that may be my fault for not tightening enough.

  • Garden tool, exercise equipment, or medieval weapon? Yes!
I'm the gardener here & this fascinated me when I came across it- my lawn could certainly use some attention, but would it work here, & would it work for me? My ground is a fairly hard mix with rocks & clay, & what's more, I only weigh about 130 pounds, so would I be heavy enough to use it? YUP! The tool itself is hefty so that helps, & I found that using it after a recent heavy rain, I can either thrust it downward into the ground, or step on it for maximum depth- the sharp spikes are very effective & aren't easily deterred. Of course, there IS some personal effort involved here, let's be honest, but it's much easier to use than I actually expected. The same was true for assembly- the handle was just 4 bolts, but all those spikes had to be installed one at a time & tightened...all 19 of them...so it was a little time consuming, but I did that while watching a movie anyway, so no big deal. I won't be doing my whole yard all at once, but when it's done in sections, this is very do-able. Besides, it's a beautiful spring day out, & I sure feel well-protected while I'm working, lol. I'll be sure to update this if I have any issues with how well it holds up- so far it seems very sturdy & well-made, & the handle is comfortable. It's perfect for those days when you really feel like stomping your feet to work off some anxiety. Or, if you clean it off real well, you could use it to roast enough marshmallows on the stainless steel spikes for a whole scout troop, so there's that too. So that makes 4 good uses... ... show more
