There's a little trick to these to get them to work. The gum stick has to be pulled. The marker tips have to be pushed in and the pen has to be clicked. The ones in this pack all shock, but the red marker doesn't shock nearly as much as the others. The blue one makes up for it by its rather shocking surprise. Yikes. I don't think you should use these as jokes for people with pacemakers. These were purchased for a 12-year-old boy and I'd say this is about the perfect age for these unless you have coworkers who steal your pens. Haha ... show more
