I've wanted an air fryer for some time and had my eyes on one with French doors so you can see your food cooking but the price with coupon kept changing as I switched screens. Customer service was useless and gave generic replies. So instead I got this 4.2 qt air fryer. After reading some reviews before writing this one I've come to realize that it isn't 4.2 qt, a gallon of milk is 4 qt which would not fit in this basket. Another thing I noticed is some reviewers mentioned doors not closing, digital display, and buttons so I'm thinking this listing had a different item prior to the 4.2 qt item as none of those apply to this item. Yes, when using for first time it smelled like plastic and has so each use but it's becoming less each time. But what do you expect when you have something heating to 400 degrees with a fan encased in plastic. The tray has four half moon shaped rubber protectors on its legs that fall off so I just leave them off. The tray and basket do NOT have a nonstick surface making it impossible to clean even when using Ajax. The metal is thin making it difficult to scrub without bending. Most things stick and trying to flip something over it's difficult to get under it without it ripping apart. Same applies to trying to remove things. Timer seems to be accurate. It dings and shuts off when time has expired. I don't understand the need of 4.2 at when the instructions for most thing I've cooked in it say place food in a single layer. I haven't checked the accuracy of the temperature I need to get an oven thermometer. Compared to deep frying, the cooking instructions of some items take longer to cook in the air fryer. Cooking French fries not impressed, I'll continue to deep fry them. I cannot stand to eat cold fries so I'll order them no salt so I get them hot. Microwaving cold fries doesn't work but I did try the air fryer and was surprised they were edible. Pre breaded or battered fish cooks very nicely but gets destroyed when trying to remove it. I've been using some 6 inch parchment paper rounds with tabs that came with some cake pans I purchased. It prevents stick and makes removal easier. It does and continues to work, knock on wood. I ordered it on May 5, 2023 and wrote this review September 25, 2023. Not sure if I should rate this 3 or 4 stars because 3.5 stars feels right. When submitting this review it asks to rate three features. The flavor feature would depend on the food not the device. It only cooks the food it does not season it. Maybe ask about texture but that may depend on what you are cooking and your expected texture. ... show more

I bought this hoping to eat healthier meals. It has been a trial and error process. The fryer is fine, it has taken a while to figure out how to cook in it. A dedicated liner would be nice. I bought some liners that should have fit based on the sellers description. They didn't, they were too large and they caught fire. ... show more

I’ve had it about a month. I’m disabled so working an oven is really hard for me. I love using this. It’s very easy. You just have to figure out temps and times. Once you get the hang of it (I’m still working on that lol) it makes a quick meal or frozen food taste like fresh (French fries for example). If you put in cut up tortilla shells you get great chips.
