    • An SSD drive is not $1000
I’m not reviewing this for the iMac itself, because I can verify that the iMac has been a solid product since its introduction. What I am reviewing is the price gouging for the SSD option. The 8GB/1TB HDD option is around $800, but the 8GB/512GB SSD is almost $1800? No, I’m sorry, parts and labor of installing a new drive into an iMac do not total up to $1000. And trust me, a 1TB HDD is going to be your speed bottleneck for a system like this. My recommendation is to buy the $800 HDD model, and, if you can’t replace the drive yourself (even though Apple has made it extremely easy), I guarantee you can find a local IT Pro who will do it for you for MUCH less. ... show more
